I have been overweight most of my life.  In May of 2005 I had  Lap-band surgery.  I lost 70 pounds in about 6 months however I was sick the entire year.  I could not keep any food down and the doctor was never able to put fluid in my band.  In May of 2006 I was so sick that the doctor evaluated me and discovered that I had had a hiatal hernia that needed surgery.  I had the surgery at the end of May 2006 and 2 days later I was back in the hospital having emergency surgery as my band had slipped and I could not even get water down.  At that point my doctor decided to remove the band.  6 months later I had to have my gallbladder out.  Since that time I have had 4 more surgeries. 3 of them considered major.  I have gained so much weight that I now weigh more than I ever have in my life.  My aunt has had the RNY and had great success so she told me to look into it.  I have already met with the doctor and had all of my initial appointments.  I am glad to say that the psych doctor does not think that I am "crazy". I was a little nervous about that. LOL.
I am having to pay cash for my surgery as my insurance does not cover this type of procedure.  The benefit being that I am already scheduled for my surgery.  I am scheduled to have the RNY on May 20, 2009.  My next step is to have my labs run sometime after April 20, 2009 and then go to the pre-op group on May 7, 2009.  I have to start a liquid diet 3 weeks preop.  That is the part that I am having to psych myself up for.  Particularly crashing off the carbs.  I just keep telling myself look at what you have to look forward to.

I am looking forward to being able to being able to tie my shoes and breathing at the same time,  going to the beach and feeling good about myself in my swimsuit, feeling sexy again, and the list goes on...........................................................................................
