This is the beginning of my journey to a new life, filled with good health and happiness. My quest started almost two year's ago when I inquired about WLS and my private insurance had covered the procedure. unfortunately, during this search for freedom, I was injuried at my work place a Psychiatric Hospital, where I injuried my knees, which required me to have surgery. At that time, of therapy, and waiting to be scheduled for this knee operation, the doctor stated, that this surgery may not be 100% sucessful due to my weight, which plays a big part on the knees. I proceed with the arthoscopic surgery for my knees.
That just crush my heart deeply. Dealing with my weight, that fact that I now have bad knees and high blood pressure, was more than I could handle, so I knew WLS was the best thing for me. I wanted to be healthier and more active with my younger kids, just to be able to enjoy a good life with them. As I proceeded with the quest, attending the informational meeting, explorer health class, meeting with doctor's and having a sleep study completed as well as meeting with Pulmonary doc. After completing all of this my employer change insurance carriers before I was offically approved for RNY. It just felt like no matter what I did, I just kept getting doors slammed in my face. "Society downs people who are fat and they give us these's images what we should be and look like, but if being unhealthy was a great big deal, whyis that insurances deny and reject us, exclude us in there health plans, and are not always willing to help us;
So during my recovery from arthoscopic surgery, I put WLS surgery on hold, not knowing what my next step would be. My employer had change ins. carriers several times and each one had WLS exclusions. My heart got heavier and heavier. But I'm a fighter and my passion for WLS got stronger. As of April 2007, I continued my passion and I now have insurance through my husband, which covers WLS, after knowing that it felt like GOd!! heard me and answered my prayers, having insurance, was the first step, starting this process all over was the second step and getting approved was the third step. I keep my faith always and know in my heart that this is my time now. "So I ask all that view's this blog keep me in prayer, that this journey will be successful and will never end."
