Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital

"The bariatric wing opened the day I had my surgery. The nurses didn't know how to lower the bed so my feet touched the floor when I wanted to get up. So, I had to slide over the side of the bed to get out and hang on to the side rails to get back in. The bed adjustment buttons were on the outside of the side rails and I couldn't adjust my own bed. Otherwise, things were OK."

Stephen G. Boyce

"These are only my experiences, but: He seemed so young to me but I was favorably impressed with him and his concerns for my overall health. I'm still very impressed with him. His staff is very friendly but there are delays in returning phone calls. I did experience problems with appealing my denial to my insurance provider. My own experience may not be the norm, but I waited 90 days from the first faxed request. When the appeal was finally re-faxed to the specific individual I had been trying to get my information faxed to, my surgery was approved in three days. Can't say that I disliked anything about Dr. Boyce. Future patients should know that you MUST attend a meeting before you will be scheduled an initial consultation. He strongly emphasizes aftercare and he has a very structured aftercare program in place. Dr. Boyce was very up front about the risks of the surgery. I would give him "two thumbs up." Both great - surgical competence is a must as my life will be in his hands but a bedside manner is essential for someone who is nervous (and probably scared)in order to make the procedure less intimidating."
