One year has flown by.... now what?

Apr 27, 2009

Hello Everyone

I know what your thinking, where has she been?   Well I've been busy working, and getting on with life.  Problem with that is I have not fallen off the wagon, but found that after I hit the one-year mark, I tended to RELAX!   BIG PROBLEM, I have not gained any weight, but am scared that by being so relaxed and not keeping the surgery or details of the DAILY MUST DO's on the front of my priorities that I will eventually not be successful.

I would love 20 more pounds and have to make ROUTINE exercise a priority, walking the dog at night is something, but nothing like what I was doing before my year anniversary came. I do do water aerobics 2X a week, but that's about all besides walking.

I appreciate any suggesstions/encouragement you can give... I hink I am too relaxed!!

Hello Everyone, Done with Month seven, bring on the 8th

Nov 16, 2008

Hello Everyone,
This has been a crazy month, really busy with work and other stuff going on.

I was hoping the scale moved more this month, but for the most part have stuck to the program, with the exception of gym time. Sooo exhausted with work that the best i do is to walk the dog everyday and that's only about 2 miles.
I am going to the Silicon Valley turkey trot on 5K on Thanksgiving day, so better increase my training before then.

This month my "baby goal" is to head back to the gym at lunchtime, that way by the end of the day if I'm exhaused atleast I got my activity in.

Otherwise my vitamins, water and food choices have been good, protein could be better, but that's always a challenge in the 50 range on most days.

Got to run... pop in and say hi

Debbie

Hi Again

Well I officially past 1/2 a year passing since my surgery, it seems like I had surgery a forever ago and it really has just been a quick 6months ago!

I've done allot in my six months, had some frustrated times, but all said and done, it's been a very positive experience. I am a big believer in your attitude determines your outcome.  I've been pretty up and excited the more I feel good, the more motivated I get to do more... a work in progress!

On Sunday I played tennis with a friend, and I haven't played since high school (that's a long time ago) we played for almost 2 1/2 hours... time flew, I moved all over that court. A few hours later, I couldn't move, but it was a good soreness and I had all kinds of energy. I used muscles that I didn't know I had.  Heading back out again a few more times this week.

So weight wise i am 2 pounds short of 100 pounds... who would have thunk it.. not me that's for sure. I saw my family a few weeks ago, my niece who is 16 says to me "aunt deb.. you know when you stand in front of the funny mirrors at the fun house and it changes the way you look... that's what I think your doing when I look at you"  hmmmm you tell me is that a compliment or just a teenage perspective?   my sisters both say they are not used to seeing me this way, and then when I tell them I still have 50 pounds to go they gasp they think my face is too sunk in already, they are just used to "fat me".

Anyway I wanted to just check in and say hi, I went to the Bay Area Meet and Greet this weekend, it was nice sharing and hearing stories with others, I would recommend attending one in your area.  I'll pop in next month and give you another update.

have a fabulous month.. till we chat again

Beginning my 6th Month

Sep 08, 2008

Hello Everyone

Well I went to the doctor today, beginning my 6th month.   I am offically at a 90 pound loss!!

I met with the nutritionist also, and I always find those visits very helpful and informative. I took my food log with me, she was happy to see the log and that I am getting my protein in and not having to do it by using a supplement. I sometimes do throw one in for good measure towards the end of the day if I feel I need an added energy boost.

I am headed into size 16's now, feels great. I did talk with the doctor when she asked the dreaded "any psychological issues?" .  I was telling her I don't see a difference, or atleast a big difference, when I look in the mirror I see same ol fat Deb... She told me I was nuts, and laughed, then said seriously Debbie your down 90 pounds and over 55 inches. There's a difference!!!  I think I try so hard not to focus on a number, that I just go on with the new routine of my life, that my life has changed, I just havn't..  Makes sence in my little mind!

Anyway, so I have a goal from the doctor of 185 which mean in the next 6months till I see him again, I have 24 pounds to lose.  My goal is 140 so I have 69 pounds to lose... we'll see where the body stops... no one really knows!

Okie Dokie, heading off for now, I'll keep you posted. My next steps following this appointment are to watch my carb intake, keep up the protein and water juggling and continue my exercising.  Small goals, love it!   The hardest one will probably be my carb intake.. it's not alot, definately under my required 100 a day, but it's over 50 and she said carbs slow the weight loss down.  YIKES!!!!

Talk with you soon... Debbie

Stall is finally over

Aug 17, 2008

My goodness, my almost 3 week stall has finally passed. I changed my plan to decrease my frustration and put my scale away and only going to weigh on saturday mornings.  So after a week of no weighing, and the 3 week stall, I get on the scale and whammo 9 pounds gone!   .

I've really been paying attention to my protein intake and calories. I was averaging only about 350 calories, so I upped them (with alot of effort ) to about 700-800 calories. I've also been increasing my working out, walking.

Another stall I survived, and emotionally ready for the next one when it comes, and I know eventually it will!

Beginning Month 5

Aug 02, 2008

Well I am about to  begin month 5

I have to admit  it's  been  a  pretty  easy  4  months  so  far. No   health  issues,  no    dumping, no  sickness... only  the  frustration  of  a   few   stalls, and  the  battle  of getting  enough  calories  and  protein  in, I  have  no  problems with  getting  my  water  in  and  I  have  some physical  activity  everyday,  either  walking  the  dog  or  going  to  the  gym  or  doing  water  aerobics  at  the  gym.

So  far  I  went  from  290ish  to  215  in  the  4  months,  and  46.5 inches...  And  have  the  nerve  to  get  on  my  pity  party  some  days  that  things  are  moving  slow...  I  know ... get  over  yourself  Debbie!

I'll check  in  again  in  about  a  week  or  so  from  now...
