My story goes like this....I had no problems with my weight until I turned about 43. Then each and every year I gained about 30 pounds. By 46 I was miserable. So...I tried all the fad diets, joined a gym, took all kinds of diet pills on the market and I would shed some pounds but then gain them right back. What a yo-yo trip. Then when I was about 55, I started to research weight loss surgery. I was about to have gastric bypass surgery when my knee finally let go and my choice was total knee replacement to walk again or bypass surgery. So of course, I had the knee surgery. When I was thinking about bypass surgery again my other knee needed to be replaced. So know I'm 60 and I wanted the lap band surgery so bad that I went to one of Dr. Jawad's sessions and I really wanted it bad now. He is the kind of man that tells it like it is. No sugar coating. My insurance would not pay for the surgery because BCBS of FL said my employeer selected to not have any type of obesity surgery covered, plus, they won't cover anything that the word obese is grouped with. (I can't understand why the county I work for elected to do this because 80 percent of their employees are overweight and of those 80 percent 40 percent are morbidly obese. Anyway, to make a long story short, my boyfriend said he would pay for the surgery to keep me healthy. What a wonderful guy.
I had my surgery on the 18th of January this year and I must say, I don't feel any different then I did prior to surgery except a little pain right around my naval. I am eating like the doctor told me to but I am hungry all the time. Maybe it is because I haven't had a fill yet and after I do I'll feel different. I hope so because I could have eaten like this myself, being hungry and feeling miserable all the time and not cost so much. If I wanted to eat a big meal I could but that would just defeat the purpose. Has anyone felt like this a week after surgery? I go see the doctor Monday so I will tell him how I feel and see what goes.
