As a teen my mother would tell me I need to lose weight, at the time I was a size 5. My sister was a size 0/1 and most of my mom's side of the family were petite too. Looking back at pictures of me growing up I was a normal size. When I was in High School I would starve my self to lose weight, she really gave me a complex and even as a young adult I would go to work for 8 hours and not eat a meal until I was home for the evening.
I didn't get heavy until a year after having my last daughter at age 25. Throughout the years I gained/lost and gained again. At age 29 a friend of mine went to Mexico and bought us diet pills. A bunch of us at work were on the same. I lost 50 lbs and thought it would be a good idea to work out to keep the weight off so I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer, she was awesome, I would work out with her 3 times a week and did cardio twice a day/7 days a week. I kept the weight off for 10 months until the trainer changed jobs. Once she was gone I couldn't find a replacement that could fill her shoes so eventually I gained all the weight back and then some. Since then I have been on all kinds of diets trying to lose the weight.
When I married I was the heaviest I have ever been in my life 267 lbs, now I am 241 lbs and continue to make better food choices. I didn't think I would ever be approved for this surgery so I thought at my weight loss I will have all the weight off in 8-10 years.
In March, I received a letter in the mail from Aetna which I was about to toss in the trash when I thought I better open to see what it is and to my surprise I received a letter of approval for surgery stating that I was approved to have surgery on May 1st. The following Monday I contacted the clinic who is to perform the surgery and emailed a copy of the letter I received.
Since I am attending University of Phoenix, I asked to have surgery on the first week of June so I don't miss any classes and to my surpise I am able to have the head surgeon involved in my procedure.
I am so excited for this surgery for I have been attempting since 2004.
