Almost to one year and I'm wearing a size 12

May 09, 2009

I was so happy yesterday when I fit into a size 12 pants.  I have never before worn a 12.  I can't remember ever feeling the way that I did when those pants fit.  I still can't believe this is happening to me.

My original goal weight was 175.  I will weigh myself on May 12, my anniversary date, but I'm hoping to be there.  My next goal is 150 and my final goal is 140.  If I can get there by two years, I'll be very happy.

Holiday Worries

Nov 29, 2008

Well I made it through Thanksgiving without any major problems.  I had a tiny piece of pumpkin pie without any problems.  Ate very small portions of the rest of the dinner.

I've been increasing my exercise to attempt to increase my weight loss.  Since I hit the 6 month mark, the weight loss has almost stopped.  I'm hoping it will start up again soon.  It is discouraging to not be losing anything, when I think I'm doing the right things.

Dry, itchy skin

Nov 16, 2008

Everything is going well.  I'm not losing weight as fast as I used to, but as long as it is going down, I'm happy.

My hair loss has pretty much stopped, but my newest issue is dry, itchy skin.  I have it on my neck.  I've been reading that this could be related to the surgery or hormones from the weight loss.  Who knows.  At least it is on my "skinny" neck.

Getting Discouraged

Oct 06, 2008

I'm almost to the five month mark.  The weight loss has slowed greatly over the last month and this week I didn't lose anything.  I'm still losing hair, although that seems to have slowed some.  I'm just hoping that the weight loss starts up again soon.

Four months since surgery

Sep 12, 2008

Well today is four months since surgery.  I have lost 55 pounds since the surgery and another 13 the two weeks prior, so a total of 68 pounds.  I feel so good and light.

I'm eating a lot more variety then before.  I can't believe it has been four months already.  It has gone fast.

14 weeks since surgery

Aug 26, 2008

Well time flies when you are having fun.  I can't believe it is already 14 weeks since my surgery.  I saw my doctor yesterday.  My blood pressure was 100/60.  It is never that low.  He told me that the last blood test that he did showed that all of the fat is out of my liver.  Which I guess is a really big deal.  I'm still not sleeping as much as I would like too, but my husband says that I'm not snoring as much.

My up to riding my bike for about 85 minutes a week.  I also do gardening, walking and yard work, but I don't count any of that as exercise.  I have been losing in excess of 3 1/2 pounds on average per week.  This is consistent for the entire 14 weeks.  Not like a diet where you lose good for a little while and then stop.

I'm eating a greater variety of food.  I have taken it very slow, but haven't had the issue of throwing up.  So I'm good with that.

3 Months Since Surgery

Aug 12, 2008

Today is three month since I had my surgery.  I feel fully back to my old self.  I have lost about 45 pounds since the surgery and another 13 the two weeks prior to the surgery.  My doctor tells me that on average people lose 60% of their weight the first 6 months after surgery and another 40% in the next 1 1/2 years.

Tucked in Shirt

Aug 09, 2008

Today I put on some pants that are very baggy to do some yard work.  Then I added a t-shirt.  Never was very comfortable in t-shirts cause the arms were alway tight and often the part on the body would be tight too.  So today I put one on.  The arms are very baggy and the body fit good.  I even felt so good I tucked it into the pants.  And it looks good!

I have been noticing the way I fit into most chairs comfortably now.  That by itself feels very good.

Today we are going to Frankenmuth for the family style dinner.  It is stepsons birthday.  I used to be able to eat so much that I would feel like throwing up when I was done.  I feel self conscience that I can't do that anymore.  I don't fit in with the crowd and I feel like people are going to be staring and wondering what is wrong with me.  Isn't that funny?  In our society it is unusual to eat a small portion in a restaurant.  I took my son to a Daly's restaurant for dinner last week.  I ordered a glass of water and a cup of vegetable soup.  The waitress in a very loud and strange voice said "that's it?"  I just answered "yes, that's it".  Maybe it is because I weigh over 200 pounds that I'm supposed to eat like a pig or something.  Who knows?  I am getting more used to eating out without feeling so weird.

Feeling good

Jul 20, 2008

Tomorrow will be 10 weeks since my surgery.  I still get tired quicker then I did before the surgery, but overall I'm feeling good.  I'm able to do much more then I was a few weeks ago.  I can clean my whole house, do yard work, go to the grocery store and make dinner all in the same day.  I'm also riding my bike fairly regularily.  When I first stareted, I was only able to ride it for about 5 minutes at a time.  Then I had to rest.  I could do it a total of about 13 minutes.  Now I'm up to two 10 minute rides, with a few minutes of rest in between.

I only weigh myself on Monday, but I know I've lost more then 50 pounds.  My clothes are hanging off me.  It is great.

Two Months Since Surgery

Jul 11, 2008

It is two months since my surgery today. I have lost a total of 47 pounds. That includes 13 pounds for the two weeks prior to the surgery. So since the surgery I have lost an average of 17 pounds per month. I'm very happy with that results. I can't remember a time in my life where I could consistently lost 17 pounds in multiple months and keep it off. This is for good, no going back.

I'm starting to get clothes that are too big. That feels very good. I'm feeling more energetic. I very seldom have aches or pains like I used to. Haven't taken a Tylenol since the first few weeks of my surgery. Prior to the surgery I used to take Ibuprofen almost everyday.
