Well i started this journey into WL last July 2007. I have Kaiser Insurance and when i spoke with my PCP and he made the referral to the doctor he told me that I would be looking at next year. I just could not imagine why it would take so long. I am so grateful for the education that Kaiser required. I had 4 mos of psychological counseling and 5 mos of nutritional counseling. They flooded me with in information , i had to attend at least 3 outside group sessions which was great, it allowed me to actually see and speak to people who have been through the journey.
I then got approved for the surgery in January and scheduled my first appt with Dr. Macik. He is very quiet but through and every praised him for his ability. I prayed and felt at ease about the entire situation.
Thus i had all my additionoal pre -opt cardia clearance, up GI, and ultrasound given he clearance and the date of surgery which was 3-12-08.
I know this will be one of the bes things that will occur in my life and i am so proud of myself for wanting to take charge of my health.
