Hi there,
Like alot of people on this site, I've been overweight almost my whole life. My earliest memories are of being an overweight child and going through the teasing and then as a reaction trying desperately to lose weight.
I decided a couple of years ago, that perhaps surgery could help. I do not want to be 60 and having the difficulties I see my mother having because of her weight. I finally heard from my surgeons office in August 08 and had my first appointment in September. At my highest I was 257, and I'm now down to 235. It's rewarding, yet frustrating at the same time. I work out ALOT and watch what I eat, but the scale doesn't move as quickly as I think it should.
I'm still deciding between the RNY and Lapband (but am heavily leaning towards the lapband).
I am the mom of a 16yr old son who was diagnosed with MS when he was 13yrs old. I don't know what the future holds...but I know I want to be there with him every step of the way, and I need to maintain my health if not for myself,.....then for him when he needs me.
