Candi, I absolutely still struggle with my food issues. I have a sugar demon on my back that just won't let go. Unfortunately, I am able to eat any amount of sugar and never dump. I have never thrown up since my first week home and I very rarely dump. This has made my journey particularly difficult. Like we always say, they operate on your body, not your brain. *sigh* It's so much easier to lose the fat than it is to lose the fat chick in your head.

Hi Candi! You seem to be doing so well with your weight loss. I just had my open rny on November 14, and it is SO hard for me with the head hunger, food addiction. In fact, if it werent for my husband, I'd probably be sneaking food here and there that I shouldnt be eating. Its great to have somebody right there with you to help you stick to your Doctors orders. I wish you all the best - Chrissy in ky

I can fully appreciate what you said in your posting about craving food. I am still pre op and I have been doing the grand farewell to food like I will never have another morsel....I love food and eat it when I'm hungry and when I'm not! I don't for a minute imagine that the surgery is going to change that.My biggest challenge is going to be head hunger.I have got to find something to take its place. I am going to give it my best shot and feel confident that I can be successful.Email me anytime you want. I'll be glad to talk it out with you. Leslie Elwood [email protected]

Dear Candi, I know I have a food addiction. I stay strong by attending, support meetings, working with a counselor at the mental health center, and by coming here to AMOS. It is something that scares me everyday and I pray about it before my feet hit the ground. This is the longest I have ever stayed human and legal with a weight loss program. I really try to stay in touch with my emotions and on days when I feel I could get in trouble I do something just for me. It might be fix my hair different, take a walk, new makeup technique or just reading a book but I have slowly learned to replace that out of control gourging with a positive feat. I pray for us both to be healed and move forward. God bless and hope you read my story in the www.circlevilleherald.com news today. I talk about getting it in your head. Blessings my friend. Janice

Yes you can use Splenda. I use it all the time and you cannot tell the difference at all. I really like it!

I am pre-op but I have eczema and suffer from very dry blotchy skin. One thing I do is rub my body down with plain old baby oil, wait about five minutes and then jump in the shower. I do this to let the oil soak in and then gently wash off the "greasy stuff". I also don't use soap, which is drying. Camay or Dove make an awesome shower/bath gel which is non-drying. Este Lauder sells a moisturizer cream that is incredible for remoisturizing the skin. It's not cheap but a little bit goes a long way and it really works! Vitamin E oil is excellent for helping dry patches on the body. I hope one or all of these things can offer you some relief. Best of luck, Ruth
