My Journey:
On Friday Nov. 18, 2011 I emailed St. Francis Weight Loss Center. The following week I had my consultation and decided to dive in. Shortly after Thanksgiving I was told I would be meeting my first grandchild due in Aug. of 2012 which made me even more determined. My highest weight was 308 and my BMI was 46. On Friday Jan. 20, 2012 I received the call my insurance had approved of the surgery and I could schedule for the end of Feb. but due to a previously scheduled vacation out of the country I requested as early as possible in March.
On Wed, Jan. 25, 2012 I received the call that my surgery had been scheduled for March 7, 2012. Hooray, well not so much. Pre-op requires you to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and since I was going to be out of the country one of those weeks I thought it best to bump it back a little, I'd waited this long another 2 weeks wasn't going to make or break me. So it's set Wed. March 21, 2012 the day my life was going to change FOREVER!
My class was scheduled for Monday Feb. 13, 2012 and all my pre-op test were scheduled for March 5, 2012.
March 21st @ 9:30 was my surgery, 1 hour and 30 mins later it was over, no complications! Was realeased from the hospital on Mar. 22nd (thank goodness) let me go home and sleep! This surgery takes alot out of you, when I got home I went straight upstairs and got into bed which is where I stayed (with the exception of getting up to shower and use the restroom) until Mon. morn. They sent me home with a stomach binder ( what a Godsend) it helped alot. Removed it on Sun. and slept on my stomach without any issues. I can feel myself getting better every day and I am encouraged.
