That was FAST!!
Nov 18, 2008
OMG!! I'm approved and I have my surgery date!! I'm so freaking excited!! It was kind of fast...this all happened within a month of my orientation. I think what helped is that I had documented visits with my primary doctor where she took notes and recorded that I had been trying to lose weight. Then she recommended that I write a letter to my insurance group and I did that as well. And now here I am, approved with a date!! My surgery date is on February 2nd. Which is good because it gives me the holidays and my 21st birthday before I have to go on the liquid diet. I'm trying to implement some of changes that I will be doing now so I'm used to it by the time I have surgery...for example: I don't chew gum, I don't drink any liquids with my meals and I'm getting used to soft food. I'm trying something different like every other week. I'm just so excited and ready to make the lifestyle change in my life so that I can finally live it!!
Getting Started
Oct 14, 2008
I had my first class on Oct. 9th and it was very interesting. When I got there, I filled out a lot of paper, was weighed and measured and the P.A. checked my lungs, heart and checked for hernias. The staff was all very nice. Before the lecture started, I also met with the Insurance Verifier, who went over what I need to do to get my insurance to approve the surgery. I have to go to a Nutrition Class and have a Psych Evaluation done. I got a lot of information from the lecture and I believe that I am making the right choice. They went over what happens with both surgeries and the pros and cons and I feel very comfortable with it. Now it's just a matter of having patientce...which I don't have! I hope I get approved!!
