3rd Fill 2nd time around...Ughh..

Apr 22, 2010

Well first of all sorry i've been so bad about keeping up here on Oh. Well I got 1 fill 6 weeks out of 3.5cc and she had to withdraw back .5cc because water would go down. Then in Feb? I got a .5cc fill after a week of struggle and spitting up in my sleep, I went back and they took back out the .5cc actually .7cc because my stomach was very irritated and swelled up so not even water got in.

Well, Tuesday the 20th I went in and was up 3 lbs ...I really didn't follow a healthier choice like I should have but hey I had lost since the first fill. Anyways this fill he only put in .4cc afraid .5 might be a problem again. I think my stomach doesn't like fills!!! I have been good on liquids and protein drinks. Last night I made potatoe soup, very small pieces, eating small bites from my baby spoon...1 hour after eating belched most of it up with a little pain like it was stuck, now i know i chewed it well. So all night last nite I kept waking to spitting up in my sleep again, so kept a cup near. Needless to say I didn't get a good nights sleep. Afraid now again that they may have to take it back out and I just really toughen up my dieting portion. I don't get it..yes I ate chocolate during easter but I have my oatmeal egg meats vegies but I don't eat alot or make really bad choices cuz I can't get alot down. So here I am drinking liquids eating frozen protein drinks, warn beef broth trying to get something in me, i still am burping it right back up, I did get a little in. its the acid and constant spitting up driving me crazy. Last time I was able to tolerate it for a week. because I didn't want to seem like I wasn't trying..I can tell you now. I hope It will relax and that I can tolerate more foods..weird I ate eggs the other day soft scrambled no problem. then later that night, potatoe soup and bam...stuck and suffering again..why? Maybe I'll never be able to have more then 3 cc's in me..? Anyone else experience this, please let me know..

First Un-Fill

Mar 12, 2010

Well after my 3rd fill of .5 cc's I roughed it out after day 3 when I ate a small piece of sliced deli turkey, guess it got stuck, I did have a discomfort, but nothing unbearable. Anyways after 5 days of everything, even water coming right back up I knew something was wrong. I hadn't really eaten much in the 5 days, nothing would go down. So went in to see the doctor, they said that the meat most likely got stuck and irritated my stomach and cause it to swell which in return made it more restrictive to get anything down. I had acid coming up..ugh, but I lost 6 lbs in 5 days. Well we learn as we go and thats all there is to it. They removed .7 cc''s because they wanted to allow food to go down with out irritating it more, think the 4 of the 6 lbs came back. I can say "I LEARNT FROM THIS"..CHEW CHEW CHEW..each fill is a new way to eat all over again. Slow it down, do your liquids and slowly try foods that you may have eaten prior to the fill! But for God's Sake..CHEW WELL!..

Just call me Liquid Lily for a while!

Mar 03, 2010

Well I got my 3rd fill of .5 cc 6 days ago...the first 3 were ok I could get food in..even ate scrambled egg..less then one. I could feel that it was getting tighter each day and I am aware that after a fill you get tight a few days after..but WOOO this time..omg I can only eat things LIQUID..and very small amounts like 4-6 baby spoon fulls. This is good I think? or am I wrong. See I was still on the tight side when he filled me again, but was able to eat good. But I only lost like 6 lbs in those 6 weeks. Well I can tell now after all the coaching and nutrition class training that I am actually now at that point they educate you about. I cannot consume more then 4-6 oz of soup with noodles, I HAVE to sip everything or it comes right back up. I am full for long periods of time. Which means I need to really get the best of what I'm putting in. I think this is the fill where I will start actually start seeing results. A coworker who had the lap band also showed me pics of here 13 months out..and I was amazed. She told me that she started seeing real results after the 3rd fill and I believe this may be the case for me. Well I would love to hear if anyone else is experiencing the same thing because I was almost contemplating going back and having them pull back out the .5cc ..? But I have decided to wait it out and go back on liquids. Here we go again!

Hi everyone!..sorry its been awhile..

Feb 27, 2010

Hi OH'ers...I am now 4 months out had my 3rd fill 2 days ago...back to liquid & mushy foods. I have noticed that each fill you have to readjust your eating style. Before i would eat up to 6  ozs..I always chew well so thinks didn't get stuck. Then came the second fill, wooo after the first 3 days I was belching back up the food thinking maybe food was stuck..NO! I now did not need as much food to fill me up, I now could only consume up to 4 oz or 6-8 bites, chewed well of course. I almost thought of having the doctor remove some of the fluid because i thought it was too tight. I know now its just that I required less and decided to rough it out.  My first fill was 3.5 cc, then second 1.00 cc and .5 cc. 2 days ago and I tell you. I can only hold about 4-6 bites of soup, coffee, applesauce.

I am posting a new pic of me, First was my before pic which I call "Humpty Dumpty"...LOL I cannot believe I let myself get like that and that I even allowed such a pic. Then the second one is a current one with my grandaughter taken just 2 weeks ago. I originally in this pic weighed 289 lbs and am now 235 lbs. I began changing my way of eating 1 yr prior to surgery to test myself and see, "would i be able to actually do this lap band"?, "Can I handle this new way to eat?"...Well this attitude helped me lose 21 lbs prior to being qualified by the MD and starting the insurance dance to get approved. I have lost more inches then weight and found a little discouragement...but got over that because I was wearing a size 22 pants and I now wear a size 18 and dropping, bra size went from 42 DD to 38 DD (thank god i kept some of my smaller bra's). All in all it has been an interesting journey and one that I have really only begun still!..Special Thank You goes out to Deanna in Illinois and Wendy in Arizona for your friendship and support and I look forward to meeting both you ladies one day to celebrate our new life!..

Much Aloha & God Bless!

Almost 6 weeks out post op..

Nov 14, 2009

Well I am just about 6 weeks out from surgery and in the last few days many people are commenting that I have lost weight so I guess its starting to show. I have to eat every 2-3 hours though because I'm so active and was getting low blood sugar. I Love My Band! I love the fact that I can eat small amounts and feel completely content and full! I love it that I've had to throw out alot of my clothes already. All my pants look baggy & stupid now!.
Today I cleaned my back yard and that was a chore, cutting back olive trees and more, raking areas that haven't seen a rake in 2 yrs...LOL I am sore right now...just trying to stay active. Today I also went with my two daughters and we all got our H1N1 Flu shot..yippie I've had both vaccines flu/Swine. So hopefully I won't get sick. Has anyone ever gotten the stomach flu with the band? If so how do we deal with it if we get intestinal virus or food borne illness? Will it hurt our band from vomiting? Just some questions I pondered.

Aloha,
Debbie

Got my first fill!!

Oct 29, 2009

Well Yesterday was my first fill. This was weird the port thing, but not too painful. Doctor put in 3.5 cc first and NO!! Water would not go down too well, so she pulled out .5 cc and water went down. So, I feel tight, liquids fill me up FAST! I didn't have any weight loss, but the doctor said its because I am exercising so much. Got tone and muscle but i have lost inches. Wow..this morning I put on business slacks and they looked so stupid on me, baggy so those are going to charity. I have bags full of clothes I need to throw out now. That is amazing..yippie!! Got my Yoli shipment and felt more hydrated since its a new wonderful vitamin drink and a way to get electrolyes and vit c. If your interested on this info and want to become a distributor, message me, or goggle h2o blast caps and you'll find it.

Day 4 out from Surgery!

Oct 10, 2009

Thank you my OH Family for all the support in my journey!!! You are all a blessing! Without this site and you all I don't know who I would have had to talk, vent and share with!!!

I am doing well, I have days that discomfort was there. I walk and sip and rest. My doctor glued all my incisions so theres no staples or sutures to remove. My first doctor appointment is on Oct. 27th, I think he makes it that far out so to also give me my first fills. I was told to stay on the liquid diet UNTIL my first appointment. But if he does give me a fill, then I'll be right back on liquids again. I don't get it. I think the fills are based on how much weight is lost in that period. So I guess we'll see.

I can take in 2 oz of protein at a time, sipping. 4oz of soup in a 45 min to 1 hour period. Sipping water all day. The gas is so annoying. When the pains or discomfort are felt I walk...and usually that jars it loose..LOL...

This has been an interesting journey so far and I can't wait to see the results. In the future, I think all of us who have come together here at OH should one day meet up somewhere neutral and meet and get together and share our new found lives!

Much Aloha to everyone,
~Debbie

2 DAYS OUT FROM SURGERY!!

Oct 08, 2009

Well today is day 2. I got home yesterday, 1 nite in the hospital. The staff on the surgery ward were wonderful at St. Josephs Hospital in Burbank..special Kudo's to Annie my Nurse..she was the greatest!!! I spoke with Deanna on OH over the phone last nite. I am so happy shes doing great too. She was an inspiration for me and my Angel! Bless you Deanna!!!
Well I am getting some protein down..I can consume about 4-6 oz of fluids. I haven't tried pudding yet..kinda afraid to yet..I want to heal well and don't want to push it, the doctors said i could go back to creamy soups like i was before surgery, that liquid diet so I am doing well. Day 2 I felt alot of gas pains but not too bad. I belch occassionally and think I will do well. The port site is tender as well as the area's cut for the instruments, but all in all it is not a severe surgery..its a skate in the park! Just got to get past the gasy part..OUCH!
