Week one on the liquid diet, argh
Sep 21, 2014
This has been the most miserable week I have had in a long time. What I learned, I am sensative to milk. I was allergic to milk as a baby/child and drank goats milk. Once I got to be about 6 or 7 they started to add food with milk in it to my diet. I never really got a taste for milk the way some people do. I never drink it unless it is chocolate. I eat cheese, greek yogurt, ice cream. So I never thought I would have a problem with the Premeir Protein shakes. The Dr said if I drank just one or two I might have been ok but 5, 11oz shakes were to much. (I would never ever drink 5, 11oz glasses of milk, yuck). Anyway, the pain in my stomach, acid reflux, diareah, were terrible. So I am now trying to find a couple different protein shakes to supplement my protein after surgery. I have to like the taste or I would not drink it. When I find a couple protein shakes I like I'll write more. I really can't believe this happened to me.
The liquid diet is kicking my ass

I saw my surgeon Dr. Weaver on August 14, 2014. He has recooperated from his accident and I got to ask him my list of questions. He answered everyone. I think I like him as a person he doesn't seem to have that arrogant attitude other surgeons I have had do. How refreshing.
My RNY will be October 6th, 2014. I can't wait. I feel like that is what I have been doing for so long, research then wait. Well I have started my 3 weeks of liquid diet and what a headache from carb withdrawl. It's overwhelming. I stopped caffeine and soda a couple of months ago so I did not think I would have any kind of withdrawl, boy was I wrong the only thing that helps is sleep. Thank God it only lasts 3 or 4 days. I think I can, I think I can :)
Getting started
Sep 13, 2014
I have done all the requested jumping through hoops (Dietition, Psych eval, Upper GI, labs, support group, surgeon appt).
I have a surgery date set now, hoping nothing will go wrong. Surgery set October 6th, 2014. I am ready for my new life and I can't wait.
I started the process October 2013 at the Seminar for WLS, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. Then had to decide what to do. Believe it or not it took several months to decide the surgery was for me. I wanted to see if I could lose the weight myself (I should have known better). So after I saw the Dr in March of 2014 I still had a few appts to do. Then presto in April I decided WLS was in my future. Then my Dr was in an auto accident and would be off for 8 weeks so the wait began.
