I have battled the weight for most of my life.  I became especially heavy after having my children.  Gained a lot during pregnancy and just never was able to get it off.  I have had diabetes for 26 years (type II diagnosis at 25 yrs old), and it is also an huge issue in my life.  It's never in perfect control, more times bad than good.  I'm starting the process of investigating having a duodenal switch to improve my weight and hopefully rid myself of the pending diabetic complications facing me down the road.  My daughter had RNY in May and has already hit Onederland.  I'm so proud of her.  During this time, reading and researching the various procedures, I began to see that this could work for me, too.  Wish me luck as I start the process of referrals and approvals.  My hope is to have surgery in early June 2009.
