2 week post op

Apr 29, 2009

I had my 2 week post op appt today. I've lost 22 lbs since surgery and doing really well. Dr said no more protein drinks its time to start eating again. I'm sitting here enjoying some scrambled eggs. They taste heavenly! This week I can have eggs, peanut butter, yogurt, cheese and milk. Next week I add beans, seafood/fish and nuts.

This is it!

Apr 12, 2009

Well this is my last night as a pre-op!  Surgery is scheduled for Monday at 1225pm.  I'm getting more nervous as the day goes on.  Can't sit still lol.  On top of impending surgery I moved to a new apartment yesterday so its been pretty hectic. I will be going to my mom's for a few days after the surgery but will check in when I can!  Hugs to all my friends!

Family

Feb 20, 2009

Last night was my weigh in at the weight management class. I was .4 lb. I was shocked as I've logged all my food and started working out 2x a week with 30 mins of aerobics. It's hard not to "beat myself up" but
makes me more determined this week to get those last 3 lbs to surgery weight. I have some challenges this week as my family is throwing me a graduation party but they did ask me what I could and couldn't have so they could plan the menu. I'm so thankful that I have such a supportive family.

another step

Feb 09, 2009

Friday I had my group consultation with one of the surgeons. It went really well and learned a lot. I was really suprised today when the drs office called and I have my consultation with my doctor March 15th and they set my weight loss goal at 299. When I went to weight management class last Wednesday I was down to 306 so it feels very achievable.

We were told at the group consultation that the procedure would be when they felt you were ready they would assign a date for the surgery and about 4 weeks from that day you would see the surgeon for final instructions so I think I'm a bit out of round but hey God is in control!!

Ready for change

Jan 29, 2009

This month went fast! Well I didn't lose my goal of 5 lbs but I stayed on track and I did lose 3. I got a call today and have my consultation with the surgeon on Feb. 6th. Last night was the intake for the 20 week lifestyle and weight management class that is a required portion of my plan. Made some new friends. One thing that I found sad was there was about 40 of us in the class, all in the same boat, wanting to lose weight. But, I was so suprised at the number of people who were already trying to find shortcuts around the diet, around the intial weightloss that they are looking for prior to surgery, etc. It was really sad. They just don't get that you've got to make a complete life change. I'm a firm believer in setting yourself up for success and although this weight didn't come on all at once, it isn't all going to come off all at once. Shortcuts, doing things my own way is what got me into the position and shape that I'm in. I'm ready for change.

Another step in the journey

Jan 09, 2009

I had my nutrition evaluation today and was given the green light. My doctor submitted my referral to the surgery dept. I will start my lifestyle class on the 28th and have tightened up on my diet to lose the needed weight before surgery.

New Beginnings

Jan 05, 2009

Here's to new beginnings!  It a new year, today's my birthday so its another new year, I just got a job promotion and I graduate next month. Add to that my journey to a new and healthier me.

I am so blessed to have the support of my family and friends in this journey. They are wonderful. I was joking around Christmas day and made the comment that I was going to lose my best friend. It set my family back for a moment but then I explained. I need to lose 160 lbs. That's what my sister weighs so in a sense I'm going to lose a person. I then explained that person lives inside me and together we have made a lot of wrong choices and has been out of control for quite a while. This journey will help me to lose that person and become a totally new person grounded in what needs to be done to be healthy and happy.

So, here's to a new day, a new life, a new me!
