Week One
Oct 25, 2008
As most of you know, I had my gastric bypass surgery on Thursday, 10/9/08. Things seemed to go well and I went home on Saturday, 10/12/08. That same night I started to have cold sweats, nausea and vomiting. We knew that something was wrong. To make a long story short, I ended up having a bowel obstruction and was taken back into open surgery to correct it and was in ICU 2 days and came back home Friday, 10/17/08.
There has been alot to adjust over the past week. But things keep improving and you get into a pattern. My wife, Sheila, is working very hard to deal with the kids by herself because I am not supposed to pick up more than 10 lbs for 4 weeks according to my release orders. I hope that it modified when I go for my follow up next Wednesday. I am positive that it is hard to care for all three kids by herself.
We also found during the week that she has some vision problem that only 2% of people her age get and she probably lost some of the sight from her right eye. We won't know for sure for a couple of months to see how the medicine works. So you can imagine how crazy things are at our house.
Eating regiment is not a big deal. Always trying new things. Feel like I am eating all day long with the 8 meals a day. But the weight just keeps falling off so there is no complaining here.
I will try to blog a follow up on a weekly basis to keep you all up to date.
