4 months - still slow going
Sep 09, 2012
Well, it is actually a little over 4 months and things are still pretty slow going on the weight loss. Most recently I believe it is due to me slowing down, getting my daughter ready to start kindergarten, and eating things I know I shouldn't. I seem to be right back where I was before surgery - seeming to want to eat junk that I know I shouldn't eat. At least this time I am still losing, just extremely slow. I have got to find a way to control myself a little better. Don't get me wrong, I'm not completely out of control, and definitly not binging or anthing like that. Just not necessarily making the best meal choices - like I might have a few crackers instead of dinner, stuff like that. Part of the issue is the same issue I always seem to have - I'M FREAKNG BORED OF EATING THE SAME THING EVERY FREAKING DAY! I'm not much of a cook, actually don't even like to cook so my husband does most of it. I can't seem to get my head on straight to even think about anything - way too much going on in my head, and that seems to get worse, not better. I'm mean seriously, who the hell can eat freaking eggs every single day for breakfast? I'm trying to make good protein choices, but I'm sick to death of eggs (egg whites) - with cheese, without cheese, with turkey sausage, without turkey sausage, with tomatoes and spinach, blah, blah, blah. Eggs are eggs are eggs, no matter how you serve them.
After all the talks I had to listen to before surgery, I'm a little upset that it isn't really like that. For example, I was told, I can't tell you how many times, that people that have had this surgery lose their cravings - yeah right - I want soda, I want pizza, I want junk food. I have to fight harder than anyone ever told me I would, bascially just like before surgery. The only difference is that if/when I give into something, I can't eat nearly as much as I used to be able to eat. I was told I would not be hungry. It wasn't until my 3 month check up that I was told my hunger would be coming back any time now, oh and it seems to have come back. No one told me that - I was not prepared to be hungry. WTH!
OK, enough ranting for today, I have some house cleaning to do and only have 2 1/2 hours before I have to pick my baby girl up from school. If you are reading this, have a great day!

Two months and still slow going!
Jul 02, 2012
Well, it has been two months since surgery and I have only lost 31 lbs. I know that is generally good, but with WLS I was really expecting more by now. The nutritionist has asked me to up my calories to 1,000; fiber to 25; and carbs to 100 in an effort to boost my metabolism and speed up my weight loss. The first week of doing this I lost 3.8 lbs, but this week only 2. I go back to her next week so I am going to continue this until then to see where I am. May just drop back to my high protein with low carbs since I was at least averaging 3 lbs a week with that. We'll see. It is very frustrating seeing fast losers on here and people having surgery after me with a higher weight loss already at just a few weeks out. Who knows, maybe I'll just pick up after 3 months - hmmm My exercise is low/slow, but I have always hated exercising. I was one of those kids that did everything I could to get out of gym (see a patter here?) - lol. At least I can feel and see the weight loss so I'll be happy for that for now. I also can now fit comfortably in the booth at a restaurant again, which is good.

One Month Checkup
May 30, 2012
Today I went to see my surgeon for my one month visit. I was down 18 lbs and have really been struggling as I have been thinking all along it should be more. My doctor then says that for a "person like me" I should be down a good 28 lbs at this time. I thought I was going to cry right there. I posted on OH and felt much better as I received a lot of positive feedback. One thing that was said to me that really stuck was that if I keep loosing at this rate, i will be down 100 lbs (giver or take) in 5-6 months. I nevere really thought about it that way and will now try to focus more on the bigger picture, overall weight loss and getting healthy for me and my family. I feel good overall, and I feel good about the food choices that I am making. Some may say that my calorie intake (800-950 a day) is way too high, while others will say it is too low. Here is how I am looking at it - before surgery I was probably eating anywhere from 300-1000 in one meal, depending on where I was eating and what I was eating. I tried to eat "healthier" for years before my surgery, but it just wasn't enough. Some may also say that eating 6-8 ozs is too much, but prior to surgery I was eating multiple cups, not ounces of food. So again, I think I am doing pretty good. I may still need advice on things to eat, but I will get there - I believe I will.

Getting the hang of it
May 18, 2012
I think I am finally getting the hang of getting the protein and water in. I was shocked that I actually got 91 g of protein in today - what a great feeling. I was really starting to think I would never be able to get 64 g in. The water is still a littler harder, but I am getting it. I started (again) using my fitness pal today because unlike the one I was using, this one tracks my protein, fat, carbs, etc. - all the things I need to track. I have to say I was surprised too that I only netted 567 calories for the entire day as I used to eat more than that in one meal (was 664, but I burned 97 in my .84 mi walk). I'm only 2 1/2 weeks into this so hopefully this will keep getting easier. I think one thing that helpded me is that I did WW for so many years that I am used to measuring and weighing (can eyeball most things) and used to tracking. It's the exercise that I'll have to work on but I don't think .84 miles a day for right now is that bad considering I usually just sit on my butt and watch TV. Today I went out with my daughter Emma (5 yrs old) and we got pedicures, and did a little bit of shopping. It was kind of nice not watching so much TV.
