In June 2004 I had RNY surgery, lost 50 pounds...gained it all back. In June 2009, through an EGD, I found I had a dilated stoma and jejunal diverticulum. I had a revision on June 5, 2009 and all is back to how it ought to be. I knew there was something wrong with my surgery before I got "revised"...I guess I was in denial and didn't want to deal with it.
I could eat normal portions of food instead of small portions. Every now and then, I would get "Oh My God" bad stomach aches in the epigastric area. These stomach aches were so bad that I would break a sweat! The pain would last for a few minutes and then go away for weeks at a time.
I decided to go back to my surgeon when I had one of these "attacks" in the car with my two children. It hurt so much that I couldn't breath through the pain. I got dizzy and thought I was going to pass out.
I should have gone to the surgeon sooner...but what is done is done!

The FIRST 3 WEEKS POST OP
Dr. Alexander told me that I had to have nothing but clear liquids for 3 weeks...and that meant no jello. It was total hell. I felt terrible, had zero energy, and generally had buyers remorse the entire 3 weeks. On the evening of the 21st day I cheated. I had creamed soup for dinner (instead of clear), a piece of string cheese, and 8 goldfishes. I did not get sick or throw up and have any pain...nothing happened except that I felt better. I hope not to cheat again! Dr. A wants me to do 3 months of regular liquids now (no pudding or jello)....so, I am moving up to cream soups, EAS Advantage shakes, and diet Carnation breakfast. I filled out a log on fitday.com to make sure that I am getting enough protein. Hopefully, this next "section" of post-opness will be easier.
I can stand my vitamins now: gummy chewables (multivitamin) and cherry flavored chewable iron.
****TIP*****
I bought the sugar free peppermints. I suck on those while I'm cooking for my family. The taste is so strong that I can't smell the good food I'm preparing for everyone else (cuts back on torture)...also, because I have something in my mouth I am less likely to accidently eat something as I cook.
The caramel/butterscotch sugar free candies are so good that I could have a binge on them...so I only get the peppermint.
