Wow - where to start.....I can remember being overweight clear back to 3rd grade some 30-odd years ago. It's always been a lose it - gain it back pattern for me. I am one of 6 kids and 5 of the 6 of us are overweight. On both sides of my genepool, I have grandparents, aunts and uncles that are all morbidly obese. I want a better life for myself and my children!

I want to have the energy to play basketball and soccer with them, go to water parks and ice skating with them, go to baseball stadiums and movie theaters and be comfortable sitting in the seats.

I have tried nearly every type diet there is.....weight loss shakes, Atkins, bariatric drugs and shots (lost 108 lbs!!) - only to gain it all back over time! I am so tired of dieting!!! I know how to lose weight, it just gets tougher and tougher as I get older and I get more and more tired, run out of energy for the fight, and live with being overweight and unhappy with myself.

This is it!! I've been comtemplating this surgery for the last year....I'm finally taking action and meeting with my surgeon for the first consultation in a few weeks. I can't wait to get this process started!!! I have a sister that had RNY 9 years ago and she has been relatively happy with her results. She doesn't take her supplements (vitamins, etc.) regularly due to lack of insurance, so she has had some issues. I am happy to say that she is going back to her drs for some help in dealing with these issues. She's kept her weight off for all that time and I can't wait to join her in a shopping spree at any place that doesn't sell plus sizes!!
