I am curently at 251 pounds. I've been putting on about 8 pounds a month. I need help! I really am looking forward to my surgery.
Update May 12, 2002. I caught a nasty head cold last week. I am worried about not being able to have my surgery! I am on anti-biotics. What a time to catch a cold. Right before surgery! My surgery is scheduled for May 21, 2002.
Update July 23, 2002:
Surgery went well with no complications. I had a terrible time with nausea after my surgery. I could barely brush my teeth with out throwing up. The nausea was so bad. I had a mild fever. My fatigue was very strong. Overall, I did not feel well. I thought this all to be caused from the surgery.
June 1, 2002, My temp rose to 102 degrees. I beeped Dr. Lutryzkowski. I also had a back ache and the nausea still. He told me to go to the emergency room at Genesys. At the ER I had a CT scan performed. It is so much fun getting an enema at 1:30 am! My temp was 101.4 and my pulse kept at around 135. All my test cam back normal. Dr. Lutryzkowski decides he would like me to see an infectious disease specialist Dr. Bodem. I spend the night in the ER with no sleep.
In the am I see Dr. Bodem and Dr. Lutryzkowski. Dr. Bodem orders more blood work. Dr. Lutryzkowski decides to admit me. I was in the ER for 15 hours!
Once in my room. I am scooted of to Nuclear Testing for a scan of my abdomen. That test comes back normal also.
June 3, 2002, Dr. Lutryzkowski tells me I have pancreatitis. I have to get a pick line put in.
That was not a fun experience. I end up having to go off all foods and be feed through the pick line. This is to allow the pancreas to "cool down". Dr. Lutryzkowski tells me that pancreatitis was caused from the surgery. I was in the hospital for 10 days! I was only in the hospital 3 days for the surgery.
After being released from the hospital. My nausea was gone. After a few days rest my strength came back. I am doing fine and loosing weight!
September 15, 2002. I weigh 193 pounds. I have been having a lot of fatigue lately.

I have been experiencing a lot of fatigue. The fatigue keeps growing in strength. I have an office call with Dr. L. We run a lot of blood work. I find out a few days later that I am anemic. I start Anemagen FA twice a day. I also found out that my liver enzymes are elevated. I get my pancreas in order. Now my liver is acting up. Dr. L would like me to see an endocrinologist. I am seeing Dr. Igwe on Nov 18th, 2002.
I will post again and let you know how my appointment with Dr. Igwe went. I am still very tired. I am hoping to regain some strength.
I weigh 188 pounds.

My liver enzymes have returned to normal. My tests show that I am not absorbing my Vitamin D. Dr. L would like me to see a different endocrinologist. I see her February 12, 2003. I am still on the iron pills twice a day. Dr. L says I could go down to 1 a day and see how I feel. I haven't tried that yet. As I have days were I am still tired.
My weight is 168 pounds.

Exactly one year. I remember everything as clear as a bell. I have lost 91 pounds. I weigh 163 pounds. I have been watching my sugar intake. As Dr. Lut tells me at my last appointment my triglycerides are high. I am very greatful for the 91 pounds I have lost.
I am still seeing Dr. Fadanelli for my vit-D absorption problem. I am told the longer you are out of surgery the better you absorb. I hope so! I take a prescription pill for the vit-D. I am still on a prescription iron pill.

I weigh 162 pounds. I have been experiencing extreme fatigue since late July. I was referred to Dr. Roman Franklin a hematologist. I find out my Ferriton is 7. I receive my first iron infusion in late September. I never regain my strength. My hemoglobin keeps dropping. Dr. Franklin orders a bone marrow biopsy on Nov. 11, 2003. My bone marrow results are normal. My hemoglobin is back to 13. I'm am still greatly fatigued. I see Dr. Franklin on Dec. 11, 2003. I find out my hemoglobin is dropping again. I may need another iron infusion. I hope that does the trick. I am constantly tired. More tired than I was at my highest weight pre-op. I also see my OB/GYN as Dr. Franklin suggested I might. We are talking about removing my uterus. We are thinking my iron and hemoglobin problems might be related to heavy periods. On top of not absorbing any iron.
Another note. I saw my Endocrinologist. Dr. Fadanelli. My Vit-D levels are not what they should be. She added a prescription Vit-D 50,000 IU pill. On top of all the other Vit-D I take. I think I take enough Vit-D to kill an elephant! LOL! My bone density scan in June 2003 showed that I gained bone mass in some areas and lost in others.
