Had surgery Thursday, finally made it home today.
Feels so good to be home.  Feeling pretty good actually.  Had a small complication with my bladder, I guess from my two c-sections I had a lot of scar tissue and my bladder wasn't in the right spot so the doctor knicked it before he realized.  Nothing serious really, BUT sadly I have to have my catheter for two weeks.  Pretty annoying but considering how good I feel aside from that I'm happy.

Not hungry, feeling thirsty but they cleared me for full liquids.  I never realized how good a cinnamon calcium lozenge would taste!!

So all in all, a great experience.  :)  Excited to be on the "losers bench" finally!!

December 10th

Dec 05, 2009

So, my date was changed from the 8th to the 10th.  I'm good with it, I mean how could I not be it's only 5 days away now.  My Mom is on her way, most of the Christmas shopping is done thank goodness.  I think this is going to be a hard time to have surgery but I don't care, I'm just glad I finally am having it.  It'll be a new start, new year...

I'm nervous, excited, scared and so happy as well.
So many things going on.

Can't wait.

Double Grrrr

Sep 22, 2009

So I had my appt with the bariatric nurse yesterday to get my date. (at the very least within a couple days)

Needless to say the Army runs my life in EVERY aspect.
The surgeon that was to do my surgery got deployment orders and is done doing surgeries.  LOVELY.  As of right now there are NO bariatric surgeons in the hospital.  There are 2 that are returning from deployments.  Hopefully within a few weeks.   My thinking is that they will probably take leave, and they still have to do all the surgeries that had to be cancelled of course.  So... needless to say, my hopes of at least having a date have gone down the tubes.  I've finished everything and according to their scale yesterday I'm down 9 lbs.  All I can do now is wait.  She wouldn't even give me a tentative month... I'm going crazy.  I guess I just need to focus on the fact that it WILL happen eventually and that things happen for a reason.

My goal now is to put my emotions into the moving process and get as much done as I possibly can...

I'm not going to lie... I'm really upset.  This really sucks.

Stay positive, stay positive...

Grrrr...

Sep 16, 2009

Well it's another day another appointment.  I have done ALL my steps except my one visit to the support group which is next Monday.  Today I went to get my anti-depressant changed to a non extended release for after surgery.  (Surgeon recommendation)  I also got a small rx for some Xanax.  I've been having some anxiety the last couple of weeks with the waiting and everything else going on.

My husband and I have decided to buy a house here in TN as we know the Army won't be moving him until he retires.  We are keeping our house in TX as an investment.  Of course we can afford both houses or we wouldn't be doing it, but you know the money stress is ALWAYS there...  The fact that the surgical clinic here makes you go through all your steps before they even give you a date realllllly blows.  I see the bariatric nurse on Tuesday to turn in my checklist and from my understanding I'll know the date a couple days from that appointment.  Of course I'd like to be back to normal by the time we move.  (Close Dec 1st, will start moving stuff in Nov 15)  My husbands schedule is ALWAYS up in the air, so of course that's a concern as well.  My youngest son is having a hard time staying on track in school which is making afternoons a VERY stressful time.  I don't know, I just feel like I'm burning at both ends these days.  I believe when I get a SOLID surgery date everthing else will fall into place as it seems like that's the only unknown right now.  Craziness!!!

I guess I just needed to vent a little.  I can't wait till I get my date and I can look forward to this.  I've been trying to stick to a somewhat liquid diet.  I've lost 8 lbs since I saw my surgeon the first time.  I'm happy about that.  Just gotta keep going.

Movin' on up!

Aug 21, 2009

So Monday I got my bloodwork all done.  Yesterday I had my treadmill test.  According to the docs that did it, I'm all good.  I have an appt for my echo on Sept 16th.  I can't wait until Wednesday when I finally get to talk to the surgeon and get a better idea of when my date might be.  I am so ready.  I can't wait to be a new me.  I'm really hoping I don't have to go in for another sleep study, but hey... whatever I have to do, I'll do.

I am really missing my husband, I wish he was here.  Not that he would even be able to do any of this stuff with me... but just to have him home when I do them would be nice.  Hopefully not too much longer before he gets back.

I guess that's all for now.  Just trying to document my journey for later on....

FINALLY!

Aug 14, 2009

I am on my way!!!  First I had to see my PCM to get my referral to the surgical clinic for the surgery.  Then I had to attend the introductory seminar.  Signing into the seminar got me on the list of people to call.  In order to go any further you HAVE to wait for the call to get the initial consult with the surgeon where he tells you what appointments you HAVE to do before you get your 2nd consult with him and a date.

So, since last week I've been waiting for that call.  (Not so patiently I might add)  I tried to put it out of my mind, as they told us it could be a while.  Today they FINALLY CALLED!!!!  My initial consult is scheduled for Wednesday Aug 26th!!!  On Monday I have to go get blood drawn and pick up a packed that I need to fill out before my Wed appointment!  This means I am FINALLY on my way!!  They kept saying "be proactive about your surgery and you'll get in fast" but there was no way to be proactive when you have to wait for the initial "jump start" I guess you could say!  Now I can be!!!  I'm so excited I could scream!

I'm FINALLY on my way and it feels so good!  I'm ready and I'm excited to make this HUGE change in my life!
