Still struggling with weight but gaining ground!

Jan 19, 2015

Well, here I am 53 years old, I had a gastric bypass many many years ago and that doctor is deceased. I had a revision by Dr. Cleveland and heard he lost his medical license(I haven't found proof), boy do I feel good about the surgeries that changed my life NOT! I am now seeing a wonderful doctor in Vicksburg, MS who monitors me monthly. With his supervision and a nutritionist I've lost weight at a healthy pace. I currently weight 176 and feel proud. Yes, it's a long way from 150 but I'm losing at a healthy rate. Friends (and I call you that because only friends share stories so personal) think long and hard about your actions. Bariatric surgery sounds so glam and easy but really it's hard. It's not a secret weight loss pill, it's a tool that you must carefully learn how to use. I wish you the best and if you ever need to talk to someone who has been through it all, contact me please. Here's to a healthier happier 2015!

Roux-en-Y did NOT work for me!

Nov 05, 2008

Life has been tough the last few months. I have GAINED weight at a rapid pace...not sure why. Need to see Dr. Cleveland but feel embarassed to go in. I know what the culprit is....cokes! They don't make me sick for some reason like other sugar stuff. I am miserable, I weight more than I did before I had my WLS and feel I need help FAST.

11 Months Out.....

Feb 16, 2008

Well, life has been wonderful. I'm not skinny but oh, I am so much healthier and that was my goal. My teenager has kept me busy and with the extra weight gone, I can run around much faster these days. Hopefully when I will make it to a Support Group meeting with the CMMC group soon.

3 MONTHS POST OP

Jul 03, 2007

Hey all...well, it has been a little over 3 months and I am doing great. Down around 50# which is great considering I didn't have that much to weight to lose. My blood work was wonderful and I have not thrown up but once which was my fault. I feel like I am living again now that I can eat. Last night on Big Medicine (TLC) a friend of mine who had her band put on by Dr. Molina 10 years ago with me had the revision to RNY just like me. It was great to know that I am not the only one and both doctors said they hated to do these revisions. Only difference, I was open and she wasn't. Oh well, I have a pretty scar but with all my tanning at the pool with my bikini, you can hardly see it. Yes, I am wearing my Victoria Secret Bikini with pride. Legs have a little extra skin but I have been walking alot more and they are getting firm. Still think I may need a little help up top because the girls have realy deflated and gone South. I have gone from a 40DD to a 36 C. Oh my, oh my! Later friends....

5 Weeks Post Op and doing pretty good!

Apr 16, 2007

It's been 5 weeks now, down 30 which is great considering I don't have but 80 total to lose. Having trouble getting in all the water. (Working extra hard and forget to drink....need to work on this.) Weekends are best, I drink plenty of water, get plenty of exercise and more than enough protein. Go back to see Dr. Cleveland next Friday, April 27th. He will be pleased with my progress. Hope everyone is doing well, since going back to work last week I don't have much time to get on the computer so I am behind in news.

Week and 1 day Post Op!

Mar 21, 2007

Well, things are going great...just wish I could drive a car. House seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Walking several times a day with and without the dog. 12# gone but I have not thrown up since the surgery which is a miracle since I threw up daily for the last 5+ years. YEAH!!! Can't wait to get my staples out next Thursday! They are a pain. Sleeping well and even partially on my side. Washing hair in sink because it is too much trouble to figure out how to take a shower without getting the staples wet. This has been so much easier the 2nd time around. I guess that is because I had an idea of what to expect. However, this time around the support is MUCH better and I know I will be successful. Support is very important because the 1st time I had bariatric surgery the doctor performed the surgery, sent me home and it was all up to me. No guidance or nutritional training at all. Off to walk....I will post again soon.

Post OP and on the road to recovery!

Mar 16, 2007

Yes, she is ALIVE!! Surgery was pretty easy except I can not tolerate Morphine. 2nd day I took myself off all pain meds. I can tolerate temporary pain much better than constant throwing up feeling. Now, I have a beautiful row of staples leading down from my breast bone and around my belly botton. Dr. Cleveland did a good job...it is pretty darn straight. This revision to me was much easier this time around and I personally think the extra time in the hospital is the key! I am tired and will update on day 6 of Post op.

Day BEFORE and having a slight problem!

Mar 11, 2007

Here we are...Sunday the day before my surgery. I am doing everything by the book but have now run into a problem.

PRE-OP Clean out-----The Fleet has me throwing my guts up. Can't stop and I am certain not enough is going down to work. I have called Walmart Pharmacy and they are thinking enough went in to do the trick. NOT ME.....I will try to "sip" the second small bottle and see if that works.

I will be taking my laptop with me to the hospital and will try to update accordingly. Pray for me..this is a revision and revisions can be very tricky. Just weighted #214..gosh can't wait to get back under #200 but then again I must remind myself that just 10 years ago I weighed over #300. I WANT TO BE A LOSER!!!!! AGAIN!!!!!

Time is getting close....

Mar 10, 2007

Today is Saturday, March 10th...two days until the surgery. I am eager to get this show on the road. I have been thinking of all the wonderful things I am going to do when I am able. But, #1 on my list is being able to sleep without the acid reflux!!!

I will post again from the hospital with my laptop. (unless my 14 year old hides it from me)

Revision after 10 years about to become reality!!!!

Jan 27, 2007

Well, in October 1996 I underwent gastric banding in Houston, Texas and essential lost nearly 200#. Now....here it is 2007 and I have regained #60. Having trouble keeping any food down and the Esophagus is so ulcerated that it even hurts to eat spicy food. Good News? After just 3 months my insurance has approved a revision. Dr. Cleveland will be performing this and I am so thankful to him because many doctors would not take me on. I am scheduled for my Pschy Eval Monday 1/29/07 and Wed. 1/31/07 I will have the other required test. I am in total shock because revisions are so hard to come by. I am going with the Roun-en-Y and they are going to repair a hernia from my abdominoplasty (spelling could be off). God has a plan for me and it is through his will everything is going as planned. I will keep everyone updated. Please pray that this revision is a success and I am on the road to recovery soon.
