Hello All,
My names Beth I'm 45 and a mom of two. I've been over-weight for ever it seems and have tried a variety of diets. Some worked for a while most didn't. The weight always comes back.plus some  At one time I lost 125lbs on the Phen-phen diet but that was discontinued because it was unsafe and caused phulmonary problems. I personally had no problems and was quite happy. After loosing
the weight I got pregnant and had a little girl (she's 11 now) and I gained alot of weight with her and after when trying to loose weight again found out I had thyroid problems so I gained even more weight. My probem now is... I have a heridetary kidney disease (PKD) which causes kidney failure in mid-40's. My kidneys failed about a year and a half ago. I have been on dialysis every since. In order for me to get on the kidney transplant list in hopes of one day having a normal life again I have to get the weight off. I have been on a special diet for dialysis patience since I started and follow it failthfully but have not lost alot of weight. I do not eat alot, I believe my weight is because I have no energy and do very little other than household chores - laundry/vacuuming/cooking/cleaning etc. I have already had an evaluation (actually 2) with Dr.Jawad.
I am at a stand-still. I live in Titusville and Dr.Jawads office is so far away he wants me to have a dr. where he is to look after me which I understand is for my own safety but my kidney doctor I have here doesn't think I need another doctor there since I will be back here after surgery. I dont know where to go from here. My doctor wants me to get a second opinion. I'm a little worried about even having the surgery now and would like to know if anyonhe else has or knows of anyone having weight loss surgery while on dialysis and if so could you please drop me a line.
Thanks for your time.
