May 21, 2009
Down 23 lbs! I am so happy! Feeling good. Dumping off of milk based protein supplements. Dumping sucks!!! I need to find a good soy-based. I am so excited about moving on to pureed diet on Monday. I am ready to chew again. I never thought I would be excited to eat pureed tuna but I am!

6 Days Post Op
May 18, 2009
I can hardly believe that I have had the surgery. I went in on Tuesday, May 12th at 6 am. Pre-Op got started at about 7 am. Before I knew it they were wheeling me in to the OR. The next thing I remember I was waking up in recovery in a lot of pain. The first thing I asked was "was it Lap?". I was scared to death of the surgery having to go open. But it didn't. As much pain as I was in post op I don't remember much because I was so loopy from the anasthesia I went right back out. Apparently I had a difficult time coming out of the anasthesia so I was in and out and very loopy for the remainder of the day.
About 9 pm that evening I decided it was time to get up so I called the nurse. Boy, it was much harder than I expected getting up that first time. I had had a c-section 5 years previously at while it wasn't as tough as getting up from that the first time, it was still pretty darn tough! I took my very slow walk down the hall and returned to my room.
I was discharged on Thursday 5/14 after a quick scan of my legs to make sure that I didn't have any clots.
Here I am 6 days post op and am getting stronger everyday. I have to admit it though. I thought I would have healed quicker than this. I don't know what I was expecting. I think I am being a little too hard on myself. I am walking almost at my old pace. I am off pain meds. I still feel like there is a rock in the left side of my tummy but the surgeon said that is normal because that is where most of the work is done. I can't wait for that pain to be gone so that I can not have to lay on my back to sleep.
I am just ready to get past this part and get on to living!
