six months later

Well it has been six months and I am down 91 pounds. I have also put on alot of muscle from the gym. I try and get there five days a week and even bought qa Bowflex for the days that I do not make it.
Still not fond of meat tho. It either looks and taste horrible or my pouch does not like it. I had a scope into the pouch a month ago they discovered an ulcer. I guess that that is common.
I am sooooo glad that I did this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, in two more days it will be a month. The drainage problem has healed about 90%. He had to burn the flesh with silver nitrate so that it would heal with a minimum of scarring.
I am down 51 at this point and hope that it contines the same way. Energy is improving.
Tried creamy peanut butter the other day. That was a mistake ! Pain and for the first time I puked.
Still working on getting the protein in and enough water. It is a work in progess.

When I came home things were great but eventually the doc had to put a drain in as the incision at the bowel required one. I need to change it daily and Diane, my wife, has been great about doing it.
I am down 40 pounds since I decided to do this and started to lose weight prior to the surgery.
Things ar good tho.

3 days after and so far easy

Well, it has been three days and I am home.
The pain was negligable, I have had alot worse. No drain, which I understand is a blessing. Slept a ton the first two days but no naps yesterday. Jello sure does taste good!
As others have reported, the stoma and pouch are not fond of cold things but room temp and warm work. Coffee was soooo good.
Am walking with no prob other than a bit of fatigue.
Was going to go hunting tomorrow but my son, who is an ER resident said a big "NO" to guns for this year. The stitches would likely tear.

I am sitting here on line waiting for the day to pass and typing with one hand as I have a cast on the other. Thumb surgery last week.
Tomorrow Dr. Hendrick will perform a RNY on me. I have lost 27 over the past three weeks to get ready. Tough to go grocery shopping and smell those smells. lol.
I have a son who is an ER resident at a local hospital and he has told me to ask the doctor to perform all of the surgery himslf and let the residents observe. I thought that was good advice.
