Good Morning Besty, you know I really wasn't prepared before surgery for what I would need after I was home. Manly because I knew my taste would change and because I’m a big procrastinator. You will have cravings, believe me on this. You’ll crave cherry (orange, line etc.) Popsicle’s when you’ve never liked them before in your life. Go with it, if you have a husband send him out after them. You probably won’t want water, I drank Country Time Pink Lemonade (SF of course) for weeks after my surgery. And since you can’t drink a lot at a time, get some of those insulated cups and make ice cubes out of the beverage. That way once the ice starts melting at least the drink won’t be watered down. I had surgery in March, I told 2 people about it and that’s all. In fact my support person who helped me at home doesn’t even know what type of surgery I really had. Yes, I haven’t even told my mom and she was my support person at home. I live across the road from her, she was able to come over and check on me and my 10 year old daughter. When ever I had a craving or needed something from the store she went to get it for me.
One thing I can tell you for sure is to take a baseball cap with you to the hospital. I am a wash your hair everyday kind of girl. The thought of not being able to do this petrified me more then the pain. So having a hat to put on anytime someone came into the room or while I was walking in the halls really helped me out. In fact, due to some complications I had to be re-hospitalized twice and each time I took the hat with me. The nurses all laughed at the fact that I would remember my hat each time, but not other stuff. But they also told me this was an excellent thing to bring. Well dah!!!!
Hope some of this helps you out. Debbie
