Four Weeks after Surgery
Dec 11, 2010
My surgery was on November 10th at DePaul Health Center. Everything went well. Dr. Scott is a great surgeon. My only complaint would be, I would love to have seen him after surgery or at least during my recent hospital stay. Yes, I had to be admitted on December 8th due to dehydration and nausea. It was bad. Of course I was not getting any protein and the liquids were not coming along too well. I was in the hospital 3 days and finally got hydrated enough to come home. I did get to start my phase 3 part of the diet, which I was very excited about.
The chicken they served me at the hospital was delicious and so was the fish and ham and mashed potatoe's. I went right out and bought some tuna, crackers, fish, and a few other things to get me on my phase 3 way.
As of Wednesday, December 8th, I was down 33 pounds. I was happy about that, but hoping it will continue to come off a tad faster now that I am eating properly and getting more water down.
I have to say that I appreciate all the hospital staff at DePaul who are involved with the Weight Loss Center. You are a great group of people and that means alot when one is going through what we all go through. Thank you!

Liquids - My Pre-diet plan
Oct 30, 2010
October 30, 2010
I started my liquid diet on October 27th. So far I am having some difficulty finding a protein drink that I like. I'm a big stickler for wierd tasting things, like ( I don't do any sort of liquid meds, can not stand the taste ). I've purchased so many protein drinks, I could sell out of my house. I just bought the Chocolate shake drink from Unjury that is suppose to be "great" tasting, ummm it didn't work for me. I have not tried mixing the unflavored mix with anything as of yet, but I will try that tomorrow.
I am getting more and more anxious to get to the surgery date. I guess you could say I'm anxious, but nervous. I honestly think if I can get through the liquid stage, I will be ok.
10 more days of liquids. I can do it!!
:)
Journey Begins..
Oct 21, 2010
I made all the calls to Insurance. I went to all my appointments. I filled out paperwork and anxiously awaited the answer to the question, "Do I qualify for the surgery?" YES, I do!!
My final class was Wednesday, October 20th, 2010. That was a long day, but worth it. I recieved my surgery date and was given lots of goodies to prepare me for surgery. I had all my testing done that same day and came home feeling like I had been given the best gift ever.
My liquid diet will begin on October 27th. If I can just make it through the liquid stage, I'll be ok.
I know there are risks to this and every surgery. I have to follow a strick diet plan and follow all the rules that come with Gastic Bypass surgery. There are vitamins to take the rest of my life. There is a possibility of hair loss if I don't, my body can be effected in the long run if I don't use them as directed.
This is a life style change for me and it's a big one. I have to do it.
I am EXCITED to get started. :)
