Hi,
I am on my kazillionth diet and I am determined to see this one through. I am trying hard to view it as a lifestyle change and not "another diet". That is not as easily done as said! There is not one diet I haven't tried but ultimately it really got down to controlling portion sizes and trying to make sure the food I eat has nutritional value. I am not considering weight loss surgery at this point but since that is not an option on the profile I selected "Learning about surgery", which is a good thing to do anyway.
I have been overweight all my life. I weighed a normal amount for about one month in high school and it's been an uphill battle from that point. No one else in my family is as overweight as I am as they are all about a foot taller than I am and quite obviously have better metabolisms among other things. Even after nursing school when I was supposed to "know better" I could not control my weight.
Now I am working out 3 times a week and controlling the amount/quality of what I eat. A lot of things led up to this decision and finally I just did it. I weigh every day which is a little bit of a crap shoot. I would do better to weigh once a week but I gain so much motivation by seeing the weight go down that I haven't been able to break myself of this habit. As of today I have lost 71# with many more # to go. I am swimming in some of my old clothes, yeay! and they billow out around me as I move around. I am doing more moving and doing it more comfortably as well.
Everyone in my life has been very supportive of my efforts and I thank them all. Everyone here that I have met so far has been very supportive as well, and I thank them too. Sherry
