Thank you all SO much for all the notes over the past several days; they've meant more than you know to me. Thank you especially for all the prayers....those are so important today. It's comforting and gives me courage knowing that so many of you have already gone down this road and are on the losing side waiting for me to join you. I've had numerous surgeries for other things and am surprised that this time I'm less nervous. I hope that's a good sign.

Right now it's 6:15 a.m. on SURGERY DAY which I am referring to as the "first day of the rest of my life". I think everything I need is packed, I have my favorite pillow along, my knitting bag, crosswords....the house is totally quiet. I have to be at the hospital at 8:15 and got up a bit too early to get ready I guess. My sister will be here around 7 to leave for the hospital.
