"Dr. Samimi was willing to work with my insurance company and write appeal letters. His office staff is awesome! He was honest about the aesthetics of the results that I would get and very excited to help reconstruct me after my massive weight loss."
"When I tried one as a recent-post op, it made me dump. Was very dense. The taste was excellent! Not enough protein to be eaten as a main protein source for the day."
"Dr. Briones has always been supportive when I've told her that I wanted to lose weight. Back when it was legal, she had me on phen-fen. When I told her that I was having surgery she was again supportive (at that time my insurance didn't require a referral from my PCP to my surgeon). Now that I am post-op, whenever I need tests run to check on my nutrient balance, I just have to tell her the type I need and she'll order them. She consistently compliments me on my weight loss and always notices each time I'm in the office. She really seem to know her field very well and is a good listener. Recently when I hurt my shoulder she was hesitant to prescribe pain medication but when I called the office later to tell her I needed something, she called the prescription right in to the pharmacy. It's easy to get in to see her quickly now that she has her own practice and the office staff is a big improvement from her previous group practice as well. I'd recommend her to anyone!"
"Today (5/25/01) was the first day I "met" Dr. Juarez at one of his group workshops at St. Luke's. He had a great sense of humor, was a little softspoken. I like that he was educated in the Western US (undergrad at Wyoming, grad school at Colorado, residency in Arizona) so he understands our lifestyle and the pressure put on obese people by standards in our communities. My first one-on-one meeting with him is 6/05/01 so I'm looking forward to asking many more questions. So far I haven't really dealt with his office staff yet.. I just faxed requests this week for medical history. I'll give an update -- don't worry, I'm very opinionated. :)
6/5/01 - had a consult with Dr. Juarez's P.A., his name is Emil. He's cute, and he said I'm a great candidate for laparoscopic gastric bypass.. which is good, because that's the only type I want to have. I don't want open, I don't want the big scar. All of my medical records have been received by the office too. Now I just have to wait until my new isurance kicks in on 7/1/01 before they will even consider applying for approval.
I'll move my insurance saga to the insurance page, but just want to state here that Jackie at Dr. J's office, who deals with insurance, is fantastic! I've seen other comments that disagree, but I received nothing but excellent service and prompt follow up to every one of my calls. What a sweetheart!"
