Hello! I am so excited to be apart of this group! I started a new job in October that has benefits that cover bariatric surgery. My benefits just became active 12-16-15 and I have my first consult appointment on 1-6-16 with Dr Houseworth in Federal Way, WA. I have wanted to have the gastric sleeve for almost 10 years and this is the first time I have the real oppertunity to do it!
I will be 30 in February and I want to have a better life! I am tired of not having the energy to go out and do the things that I want to do. I love to be outside and go hiking and taking my dogs to the park to play but cant keep up most of the time when we do go. I have 4 dogs, 3 are very high energy, no kids and an amazing boyfriend who is so supportive of me making this change for the better. He wants me to be happy and to feel better about myself. I feel bad when we go hiking and he has to slow down and wait for me to keep up with him. I hate that I slow him down. I want to change that this year! 2016 is going to be a great year for me!
1-4-16.... I have my consult appointment on 1-6-16! I have wanted to have the sleeve for almost 10 years and I finally have a job with insurance that says they cover bariatric surgery so here I go! I love to be outdoors and spend most of my days off in the woods, mountains or rivers. I have 3 bird dogs and spend a great deal of time in the fields with them training and looking for birds. I would love to not be obese and be able to enjoy my time outdoors without being winded or feel like I’m slowing everyone down. I want to make they have to keep up with me! Here’s to a new year and hopefully a new healthier life for me!
Update 1-9-16.... I went to my consult with Dr. Houseworth on 1-6-16. He was nice and very quick in our meeting. He asked what surgery I was wanting and I told him the sleeve. He asked how long I have wanted to do this and I told him over 10 years. He asked why I waited so long, I told him that I finally have an insurance that will cover the procedure and he laughed and said yes it can be very expensive to have done. :-) His nurse was very nice and personable. She chatted a little bit and took my vitals before he came in and then after he left she came back to talk to me about my insurance and what we required to continue. I guess my insurance doesn't require a lot to get started and I was given a list of things to do before we can submit for approval. I left his office, went to the nutrition clinic that is in the same building just one floor up and made my appointment then I went to the car and called and tried to make the other appointments. The orders weren’t in the system yet so I had to wait until 2 days later to schedule my labs but luckily they were able to get me in this next Monday the same as my nutrition appointment. :-) I want to get this all done ASAP!

I was happy that I was able to get almost everything scheduled so quickly but was upset that the psychological appointment isn’t until February 4th. I was hoping to have it all done in January but oh well. I shouldn’t be complaining since a lot of other peoples insurance requires 6+ months of supervised diets and nutrition appointments.
