First day under 200 pounds! I'm checking my weight very 4 days or so and its really exciting! I'm on the bari 4 and the most pouch threatening food I have eaten is chicken and it stays down pretty well. I can't eat much of anything I eat, about an oz or so so I'm just really particular about what I eat. Yogurt, chicken or cheese. I'm still very lethargic but I am doing more and more each day, I do well with breaks. There is alot of difference in my current clothes, but I can't wait to get into my size 16s and 14s.

dehydration

Aug 26, 2010

I went to the ER on Tuesday after a couple days of increased nausea, fullness, and steady decrease in fluids and protein, a vicious cycle. I am 19 days out  from surgery. The doctors took urine, blood and I was sent for a CT scan (around 2:30 in the morning) to see if they could tell if I had stricture. CT, and blood was normal. I'm still waiting on the urine results.  Anyway, the surgeon suggested they scope me and possibly do a dilation, if necessary.  After it was all over, everything looked normal and I was beginning to feel better with the IV fluids and anti nausea medications. I'm back home but amazed at how easily it was to get dehydrated. Since the nausea has decreased, my desire to drink has improved. I had the best night of sleep I've had post surgery.

Grateful to be able and to have the desire to drink again and that Dr. said I can move to bari stage four. Seeing my NUT today.

Blah

Aug 22, 2010

Okay so struggling with the carnation. I was up to 24 oz a day but I struggled with it yesterday and today I've got down only water and popiscles. I dry heaved around 1pm and had to call the on call doctor. He suggested I wait a couple hours before drinking again and trying again. I did that and no vomiting. I know I'm not getting enough protein in generally but today I got basically no protein. Hopefully tomorrow is better. Dr. said if it continues I need to be seen by someone. Due to my lack of protein I've been quite tired too. Napped twice today for a total of five hours.  : ( Can't wait to move to pureed and other soft foods this week!

Two week post op today!

Aug 19, 2010

Down another four pounds today, making a total of 19 pounds to date. Ironic because I remember dieting for seven months on WW and losing 17 pounds.  I have officially lost the combined weight of my two dogs haha. Well they are small dogs but I feel good about it. I don't like to jump on the scale constantly and analyze the numbers but once or maybe twice a week is good for me. I want to take my measurements but have been putting it off. My pants are definitely loose.

Physically, mental, emotional and spiritually I feel good. I am grateful I didn't suffer any complications post op and that I returned to work yesterday and wasn't mentally or physically exhausted. I forgot to ask the doctor if I can return to work, buts its not a physically strenuous job.  This is my last week of full time anyway, so after this Saturdays shift I will only work there for three shifts a week and two at the High School. Anyway, I told all my co workers and they were all supportive. I didn't think people who be, I was too focused on the embarrassment of admitting to my WLS and obesity (even though I'm sure they noticed).

I am slowly increasing the amount I walk, keeping in my the exercise lady said to increase 3% per week.

No more staples!

Aug 16, 2010

I got my staples removed this morning. What a relief! They were really itchy. Another 10 days of the the bari 3 sugar free liquid diet but I'm thinking I will make it without cheating. I've already done a 12 days of it, whats another 9-10 days? I'm spending a lot of time looking up information about types of proteins and ways to get it into my diet. Also looking up grams of sugar and protiens in quick food options.  I'm down 15 pounds. I'm allowed to do whatever exercise doesn't cause pain so I'm just walking and walking. I'm not getting enough protein so I'm supposed to try nectar or isopure inbetween the CIB. Despite, feeling great, moving around without pain, I still tire quite easily, but that was my baseline anyway.

1 week post op!

Aug 12, 2010

Whoo! I made it! I'm one week since surgery. The CIB is getting easier to drink, especially since I can drink it kinda quickly, aka 15 minutes lol. I've also gotten better about taking all my chewable vitamins, but I can't wait for the day I can get my flintstones Gummies back. I love those gummies! PS the caltrate chewables are pretty good to me. I've also been cutting way back on my pain meds. I 'm taking half the pill and putting 7-8 hours between pills and compared to my previous 4-430 hours.

I'm still really anxious to eat "normally" again. I keep reading my fourth and fifith bari stage diet info dreaming and teasing myself looking at the list of food I'll be able to eat. I will have the best potatoes ever!

I went out with my mom today to CVS (looking for Vitron C, which I can't find ANYWHERE) and I didn't feel like dying when I got home. My body is definitly getting better and healing everyday.

Today

Aug 10, 2010

So today I was allowed to try the Carnation Instant breakfast again. I felt really nauseated when I awoke in the morning but I drank some water, waited an hour and then I drank CIB very slowly over the next hour and managed to keep it down. I still continue to not be hungry and have no interest in drinking CIB. I crave ice water alot. Honestly, I can't even stand the smell of the CIB. I tryed all my vitamins too and then seem okay. I wish I was further along in the process. I went to CVS with my mother and while I was out for less than 45 minutes, I was exhausted by the time I got home again. I guess the servereity of this surgery hasn't hit me yet. I can't wait to get to stage 4, I'd like to be able to tolerate cheese and yogert!

I added a ticker to my page, I haven't weight myself since one week before surgery, so when I get my staples out this Monday, I'll have to figure out how to update my weight.

help

Aug 09, 2010

I got home from my stay in the hospital after WLS and felt okay. It wasn't until my second morning at home that I began throwing up CIB and now I'm back to the bari 2 stage. I just wish things were moving alot faster, or at least moving forward and not backward. : (

I have an appointment to get my staples out in a week.
