Which surgrey should I go with?!

Jan 18, 2008

So, I just got my first appointment with my Bariatric Surgeron in Baton Rouge, Louisana. I'm excited but yet i'm scared. I was wanting the sleeve gastrectomy but I just found out my insurance wont pay for it. I'm totally bumbed on that. It will only pay for the 1.Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYBBP), open or laparoscopic (LRYGBP) 2. Laporoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) which is the Lap-Band. 3. Biliopancreatic bypass or diversion (Scopinaro procedure) with or without duodenal switch (BPS/DS) which is open and laparoscopic. I dont know which one is good, which one is bad, which one works the best or anything.
I'm looking forward to losing weight and becoming so much healthier. I might get to Baton Rouge and after talking to the doctor I might not even want to have the surgrey. I just I dont know right now.
I'm worried about having the surgrey and then not being able to have children. I'm a newly wed! I just got married in October 2007 and I'm only 20! So I deffently dont want to have a surgrey that wont be able to let me have kids because my stomach is too small to keep my baby healthy. So, yeah, if anyone has any advice on any of the surgreys let me know please.
Thanks.
Alexis
