I am 49 years old and have been overweight since the birth of my second child in 1979. I have been on diets, having some success, but would always gain the weight back I lost, plus more. Each diet that I tried was “going to be the one” for my success of keeping the weight off. I have taken prescription drugs at my own expense to lose weight. I have exercised, taken step aerobic classes, walked on a treadmill and have taken Fhen-Phen, Xenadrine, Xenical, Meridia, and Phentermine 37.5mg. This would be my last option. I need to have weight loss surgery. My excess weight is linked directly to many serious medical conditions such as the following: Cardiac disease {medical history in my family}, Diabetes, Sciatica pain, High blood pressure. I take a water pill to avoid ankle and feet swelling. Losing the weight can reverse progression of these and other conditions. I fell down the stairs while working, in May of 2000. The fall caused damage to my lower back, the bulging or herniation of my disk caused compression to the sciatic nerve, the fall caused severe pain. I missed a week of work. I took prescription muscle relaxers, prescription pain medication, and regular visits to my chiropractor The injury and excess weight causes left hip pain and lower back pain. My leg and toes go numb when I put in many hours at work. It is difficult to exercise on a treadmill because of a stress fracture I was diagnosed with.
