I am 32 years old and live in Virginia Beach, VA. I am married for 8 years to a wonderful husband and have to beautiful children. God certainly has blessed me with a great family. Matthew is my oldest, he is 4 years old and I have Hannah, who is 10 months old. I am a stay at home mom and love taking care of my children. I love to scrapbook. My weight loss journey is my new hobby now. That is all I can think about. I have become obsessed with it. When I first started looking into it, I went to a consult with Dr. Schecner's office. They had sent me a packet of information to fill out beforehand. I went to the meeting and there were five other people there. A lady was sitting next to me and she was with her daughter. We were all looking at the before and after pictures. She went out to her car and brought back a little black album. It was pictures of her. She had the surgery 3 years ago and lost 150 pounds. She looked great. That gave me hope!
I am gearing up for upcoming surgery on Monday, October 23rd. I am every excited. It will be the first day of the rest of my life. I know that sounds really cheesy, but that's how I am looking at it. I will have a new outlook on life. I will be able to do things I haven't been able to do in years. I want to keep up with my kids without having to take a break or a nap. I want to have more energy and not feel like I got hit by a truck every night when I put the kids to bed. I want to go to Busch Gardens and feel comfortable riding the roller coasters and not worry if I am going to fit in the chairs.
I have a younger sister who just turned 31. She has been very supportive with my WLS journey. She wants me have the surgery because of my health. My kidneys are getting really bad and my blood pressure is off the chart. I also have PCOS. I am not real sure how I got pregnant, but that is another story. Anyway, after the surgery I will lose weight which will make my kidneys not work as hard. And my blood pressure should go down.
Anyway, back to my sister. She is very supportive but I also think she is jealous. And she has every right to be. She probably needs to lose just as much as I do but says she doesn't qualify for the surgery. I talked to my brother-in-law who says she is very jealous of me and needs to work extra hard to lose weight. I hope she isn't bitter when this is all said and done.
