I have fought my weight since I was a young child. I remember being the fat kid on the softball team when I was just 8 or 10. As a teen, my weight went up and down and it's been a constant struggle my whole adult life. Finally, faced with high blood pressure medication, and poor health, I've decided to undergo gastric bypass. My surgery will be May 16th 2008. It will be the first day of my new, healthy life. I want to see my son graduate, go to college, get married and have children. Heck, it wouldn't hurt my feelings to hold my great grand babies and tell them the stories about their grandfather!
I've had a few people ask me why I'm having this surgery at such a young age. My answer is, "I'd rather have it now, before my heart attack and stroke! I'd like to have it while I'm 252, before I'm 352 or 452." The pounds have a way of inviting their friends over for dinner and then they never go home! lol
