Off the Plateau

Sep 26, 2007

Well I hit my first plateau about 4 weeks ago.  Man did it stress me out.  I reacted by not attending meetings and now I feel a bit guilty.  I know the meetings help, but I kind of felt ashamed.

Anyway, I am losing again and very excited.  I am about 3 lbs from size 14 and .5 lbs from being under 200 lbs.  I feel good and I am working on reacting to plateaus better.

Ok, so this week I learned that I am affected by the numbers on the scale.  Up until now I was certain I could handle the numbers on a daily basis, I was wrong.  Here is what happened:

I weighed last Friday morning after a vigorous day of exercise the day before and my scale read that I was down 7 lbs from the previous day.  I got on and off my scale 3 times to make sure the number was correct.  It was the same each time.  This put me below 200 lbs, a personal goal, and well on my way to losing the 100 lb mark I also wanted to reach.  I was so excited I could hardly stand it.

To my disappointment on Monday morning I weighed myself and couldn't get a good consistant number on the scale.  I moved the scale and found a q-tip under the corner.  I removed and reweight I was back to where I was before the massive weight lose the week before.  I was not happy because now I have not acheived the goal I thought I had.

Today I am feeling better about it, I have lost another 1.5 lbs since last week, so things are going well, just not as well as I had thought.
