One week post-op
Oct 12, 2009
Today is my one week surgiversary and I lost 18 pounds! I feel good. Just some mild pain in my abdomen still. I accidentally ate a grape like 5 minutes ago. They were sitting next to me on the computer desk cause I was feeding them to my daughter and I guess out of habit just reached over and popped one in my mouth...I went for a second one and realized what I had done. I was kinda freaked out but nothing bad has happened yet. I'll keep you all updated!

Today I reinvent myself
Oct 05, 2009
It's finally here. October 5th, 2009. It's been 3 weeks since I got my approval and date and it seemed like the longest three weeks of my life. It's over now and I'm ready. I feel like crying and I don't know why. Am I scared, Am I happy? Am I glad I'm finally gonna know what it's like to be thin and healthy??? It seems like I can't hear anything today. People talk and music plays but all I can hear is "surgery". Wish me luck today!

Got my date
Sep 11, 2009
It's been a month since I posted and a lot has happened since then. I went to my steps to success class and learned a lot there...My chart was submitted to my insurance company on the 21st of August and got a call on Sept 2nd letting me know I had been approved. I was expecting it to take a lot longer than that. So I have another class to take and a pre-op appointment on October 2nd...Then mysurgery is on the 5th of October...I am so excited!!!

Psych Eval
Jun 13, 2009
I had my psych eval this morning and was just expecting the doctor to ask me about weight loss surgery, my dieting habits, compliance...you know stuff that is directly related to having the surgery...WELL...Somehow we got into the subject of my divorce and how my kids are coping with that... and I ended up crying... and it turned into a therapy session instead of an evaluation. OMG...Anyway the first step has been taken and am well on my way to the losers bench.Beginning my WLS Journey
Jun 11, 2009
I began my WLS journey this week. I went to a seminar here in Reno on Tuesday provided by The Western Bariatric Institute. It was very informative and has helped me make up my mind about having WLS. I have been considering a Roux en Y for the last 5 years and could never bring myself to go through with the process. I always told myself...oh I will just try to lose the weight with diet and exercise...it NEVER happened!!! I have been steadily gaining the weight over the last 5 years. I now weigh around 300 pounds. OMG!!! My BMI is 47. I am so afraid of NEVER being thin. I will never be able to enjoy my kids and my fiance. Summer time will always be miserable...and the biggest thing...I will never get to fullfill my lifelong dream...I have always wanted to be a police officer!!! You cant be FAT and be a police officer. So I have scheduled my psych evaluation and my nutrition evaluation and now waiting for a call from WBI to schedule my first consultation. Wish me luck!
