"The first time I heard Dr. Rivas speak was at the WLS informational meeting. He has some pretty impressive credentials, and as he spoke it was apparent how knowledgeable he was on the subject of WLS. During my consultation with Dr. Rivas, I started out very nervous. I just knew I was going to break down and start crying when I had to speak about why I needed WLS, but Dr. Rivas was so calm and soothing, I never felt the urge to defend myself. He sat close to me which made me feel like he was personally connected to my cause and he took the time to explain both the banding and the bypass surgery complete with illustrations. His consult was very thorough and I was even able to ask all the silly questions I had without any judgement from him. Also, I have been impressed with the kindness and prompt nature of his nursing staff.
