(That's me on the left, with my little sister, and Stuart Murdoch of Belle & Sebastian)

Where do we begin? I suppose in Houston, TX - 1983... too far? Ok, how about Ft. Worth, TX, 1998?

It all started because I got this nasty mono/pneumonia combo right before softball tryouts my freshman year of high school. I was so ready to play, too! I had played Softball in 7th and 8th grade, and had some great friends joining the team this year. But that dang mono knocked me out for 2 weeks, and when I came back, I could barely walk up the stairs, let alone run the bases.

While sports never really held my attention, they were a big part of the high school experience in Texas, and once I lost that, I really just started to let myself slip into the comfort of tv, listening to records, and cheesy tortilla snacks after school.

But I think the biggest turn came in the summer of 2002. Just out of high school, my boyfriend dumped me and I took it hard. I spent my first semester of uni hiding in my bottom bunk, eating nothing but veggie pizza and ramen the whole time. I gained 30lbs, easy, and I haven't stopped gaining since.

I've tried all the diets. I've tried Weight Watchers and SlimFast and Keto and Paleo and South Beach and... you get the point. While I was always able to get a few pounds down, I was never able to see significant results until I joined JumpStartMD in 2012 - they had me on phentermine, "amino shots", and a hardcore Keto diet that helped me drop 30lbs. It also cost $350 a month, and that's just too much when you're living in the most expensive city in the country. After I left JSMD, I gained everything back plus another 20.

So here I am. Sleep Apnea, mobility issues are coming in, back's hurting pretty much daily, and I'm just ready to get rid of it all for good. I wanna get back down to that sweet 140/150 like when I came back from my "Mono Vacation" - except this time strong and healthy and not just able to walk up the stairs, but to take them 2 at a time at a running speed.

I've only just started my WLS journey, but I'm already on shakes, I've quit smoking, I'm drinking tons of water, and I'm forcing myself to exercise as much as possible.

I'm ready and I can't wait to meet "the new me".
