Hi Alissa. I had surgery with Dr. Gandsas on 12/30 also. And I just joined the pricey gym at lifebridge. Went swimming twice, and on my way to meet the advisor, had a car accident. So now, I have back trouble and can't exercise. But I hope to be going back soon, and you won't have to be the only fat person there. Good luck, and I hope things speed up for you soon.

Hello Alisa, I just read your profile and wanted to thank you for sending me such a nice email. I want you to remember...we didn't gain weight overnight so it's not going to come off overnight. You are doing great and just think...that's 37 pounds gone forever! Everyone's progress is different and if you keep doubting yourself you're going to get back into those old habits of relying on food to comfort you. When I made the decision to have WLS I knew that I was one of those people who had to work harder to achieve results as its always been that way for me. I made up my mind that I wasn't going to focus on how much other people lost in such a short amount of time, but I had to focus on what would work for me. You have to know that this tool is your best friend and you have to make it work for you, so stop doubting yourself and know that you are going to be simply fabulous!!! As for the gym...I joined Curves and have been really impressed with the results. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and they staff and members really care about each other. The Curves I attend is so relaxing until I've worked myself up to going almost 5 days a week, but definitely 4 days for sure. If possible, see if there's a Curves in your area and consider joining as you won't be disappointed. It's a complete 30 minute workout that targets every area of your body. When you think about it...who really want to go to the gym and exercise for hours on end? As for your husband, he'll come around and start giving you the compliments you deserve and remember...its not about him either, its about what makes Alisa Henderson feel good about herself. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress. I will be here supporting you every pound of the way and know that your AMOS family is here for you whenever you need us. Take care...

2/1/05 After one month I have lost 34 pounds. This journey is a rough one. I met a new woman at work today named sherry. She had surgery in 02 and is a size three. She is very happy with her wls and give me something to look forward to.

Well I am now almost three weeks out of surgery. This has been a tough time. I feel a little better each day but am still battling depression. I hope and pray that things improve and would love to hear from anyone who is at the same place I am. Eating three tbs. of food is blowing my mind. I miss my ability to eat and eat much. I look forward to getting over this feeling.

This is my first update since surgery. Last week was horrible. I had lots of pain, bloating and discomfort. I could not sleep and wished constantly for any relief. My prayers were finally answered on Saturday. I am at least feeling human again. I am having a rough time with the liquids and the bad gas. I know it will get better, but for me I would never have had surgery had I known that recovery would be so painful. Perhaps my optimism will grow as my recovery progresses. My angel Jenny has been a Godsend. Without her support and her wonerful lime jello I could not have done this.
