Time for an update!

Feb 15, 2011

So I saw the surgeon's PA today. I haven't seen them since last July due to the pregnancy and the excellent care I was receiving from my OB/GYN the surgeon's office didn't need to see me until after I had the baby. I have officially lost 100 lbs by their scale since surgery even after pregnancy for a grand total of 152 lbs. She did mention that my tummy is quite large and she's concerned about a hernia. She said by the look and feel of it that I more than likely will develop a hernia in the very near future. That doesn't sound like too much fun but at least that would mean I could have my tummy tuck done at the same time. ;-) They don't want me to lose much more weight because once the excess skin is removed I will lose some then and they'd like to see me stay at a healthy weight. It was all very exciting. I never imagined that 14 1/2 months ago I'd be where I am today but it feels amazing. I have a lot to be thankful for. I have a beautiful family and I am healthier than I've ever been. None of it would have been possible without the changes and sacrifices I have made. I never thought I'd have another baby and the surgery + weight loss made that possible for me.

Happy 1st Surgiversary to ME!

Sep 20, 2010

Wow, I can hardly believe that a year has come and gone. I had my surgery on September 21, 2009 and never dreamt I would be where I am today. I'm down a total of 150+ pounds over 100 since my surgery and 7 months pregnant with my second baby. Although I'm not feeling the best today overall I feel so much healthier and better than before. I used to get sick all the time before the surgery and now hardly ever get sick. I'm sure a lot of it is the fact that I actually HAVE to take vitamins regularly now. I was wearing a size 18-20 last year at this time and today I'm in a XS-S maternity clothes. Before I got pregnant I was just starting to wear a size 4 pants which doesn't seem real to me. I never knew or dream I would be so petite. I'm not even 5'2" tall but was always told I had a large frame with big bones. I guess it was everyone's excuse for why I was so overweight and they didn't want to make me feel bad. I barely recognize myself in the mirror. I think my belly is as big today as it was a year ago but at least it will disappear very soon! To anyone who is contemplating.... go for it. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I had a lot of struggles at the beginning but it was all well worth it.

9 months post op

Jul 06, 2010

Wow! I never would have believed it if someone told me I would look this good only 9 months post op. I had my 9 month post op appointment today and even though I am almost 5 months pregnant I have officially lost 100 pounds since my surgery on September 21, 2009. That is a total of 152 pounds from my heaviest weight when I decided I had to change my life. This definitely has changed my life and that of those around me as well. I have such a great support system and couldn't have done it without my friends and family. I never ever would have thought I'd go from a size 22-24 to a 2-4 today. I'm wearing a size Small in maternity clothes and 4 years ago I had to order plus size ugly maternity clothes because I couldn't fit into anything I wore sweat pants and my hubby's shirts until they got to small. Unbelievable. I have had several people ask me recently about my experience and ask for my guidance as they take the next step in their lives to become healthy. It makes me feel really good to be able to help someone else take the next step in their journeys.

BIG NEWS!!!

Apr 12, 2010

It's been confirmed. I am pregnant! This was completely unexpected but welcomed. I am due around December 6 so this is still very new. My doctor thinks I will be ok since I am only 17 pounds from my goal weight. I will just have to be careful not to gain too much weight so that I can take it off after the baby is born.

6 month update

Apr 08, 2010

I am a little over 6 months out and so close to my goal. I am 17 pounds away from my personal goal and 32 pounds away from the goal the Dr set for me. I can't believe that a short 6 months ago I felt like I would never get to where I am today. This has been an amazing ride and I'm in for more! I'm excited for the possibilities I have yet to encounter. I began running for the first time in my life about 3 weeks ago and it feels great. I got a pair of roller blades for my birthday and went out for the first time tonight. I've never been able to roller blade before because I was too heavy. Life is so much more fun being thin!

16 weeks and still going strong

Jan 18, 2010

So I had my surgery 16 weeks ago today. I am down 67 pounds as of this morning and wearing a size 8 pant comfortably. This is so surreal. One day I'm sure it will set in! But for now I'm gonna party it up and take advantage.

Here's to a New Year and a New ME!

Jan 13, 2010

Life has been super busy lately between, work. school, and home but somehow I am finding a way to get all my protein in. In fact most days before I even leave work I've consumed about 75-80 grams of protein. I finally found a protein powder that I can stand or perhaps the strong odor and taste has disappeared for me. As of yesterday morning I am down 65 pounds since surgery on September 21, 2009 and 115 pounds since I began my weight loss journey. I was thinking that I wasn't going to lose any more weight because my body was hanging right around 177-179 for the longest time. It took me a while to realize that I wasn't going to continue losing the weight so fast and now that I'm getting closer and closer to my goal I shouldn't be losing 20+ pounds a week. I am feeling better than I ever have. Going to exercise classes everyday at work in the morning and then using the elliptical machine in the afternoon. For the first time in my life I actually kind of enjoy exercising. I don't really have cravings for the bad foods I ate before surgery which is really good considering I am surrounded by them every where I go. If I think I "need" something I just remind myself that I don't and I don't ever want to weigh 290 pounds again or feel the way I did when I weighed 290 pounds.
