Eight Months Out

Jul 05, 2007

I'm a week shy of eight months and doing great!  I've lost 76 pounds and have gone from 22/24 to 9/10.  I have alot of fun now shopping for clothes and it feels great to show them off.  Yesterday I went on a 3 hour hike to  the Koolau Summit and I'm very sore in the thighs today.  I'm looking into joining a hiking club so that I can join others on hikes.  I'm working out at 24hr fitness everyday and just started seeing a personal trainer once a week.  I can't recognize myself in the mirror!  My personal goal is 132 lbs and a size 6, but if I don't get there I know that I'm doing great where I am right now.  I''ve gotten 3 comments over the last month from friends saying I shouldn't lose any more weight because I'll be too skinny.   How dare they!  I know that those who have had WLS will understand my frustration.  My eating is only okay as I am able to eat alot more and since I don't dump on sugar, I have been overdoing the sweets and carbs.  I find it very difficult to discipline myself . My protein is mainly from Nectar protein drinks.    This will be a struggle for the rest of my life!    I want to thank all of you who post on OH.  I sign in everyday and read stories all day long for the support.  Everyone's journey is a blessing to me.  I couldn't have done it without all of you.  I only pray that my story can help someone also.

I'm on the other side!

I'm on Week#6 and I've been back to work for a week now.  It's been quite an adjustment but I've done very well.  So far I'm down 24 pounds and two dress sizes!  It's hard not to compare myself with others that have lost more, but I'm proud of my progress so far.

Going back to November 7th, my surgery went fine although I did not wake up from the anethesia for two days!  My blood pressure sky rocketed which I got medication to bring it back down.  I then got sick from the morphine and anethesia and was throwing up blood the evening after surgery.  It may sound horrific, but I recouperated just fine and went home on Nov 10th.

My sister was my angel and took great care of me at her house over the weekend while I got accustomed to preparing and eating my "pureed" food.  I was afraid to eat not knowing how it would go down.   She spoiled me rotten which is a good thing because I was scared to do it on my own.

My first week I did everything real slow, but then I was pretty much back to feeling normal.  I walked everyday and even went to the gym for the treadmill.!  I've only gotten sick about 4 times due to either eating too fast or eating before the 30minutes are up from drinking.  I'm getting the hang of it and must say it not too bad.  I'm not hungry at all and I can look at food without wanting to eat it.  I like the smell of food and it doesn't make me hungry.  What a God send!
