Hi to all of you from WG. I was amazed to find 17 emails in my aol mailbox. Wow! I didn't know that I had "A PAGE" until I read the emails. I had not posted earlier because I have been without a computer for the last couple of years; I just bought and set up this new one since my operation and got online a couple of days ago. Thank you for all your concern but I can truthfully say I have experienced very little discomfort or pain; even on the day of surgery. I went home at midday on the following day and drove myself home with no problem at all( I had driven myself there and could have called my daughter to come and drive my car/me home but didn't feel a need to do so. I only took the liquid pain medicine twice (at bedtime each of the first two nights at home)I wasn't trying to be brave, etc; just did not feel any real pain, only some minor soreness. I hope you who are pre-op have it as good as I have done. I think the Lap Band is the least invasive and easiest of the various options. It's been a "cakewalk" all the way. I hope those of you who are nervous or fearful as your op approaches will gain confidence. I have gone to two support group meetings and talked to several people who had all the different operations and everyone always say that the normal fears are not justified; the reality is better than expected. I think op complications are very rare. Anyway, it's been two weeks and I have lost 19 or 20 lbs. I will post periodically and give updates. I will pray for each and every one of you who sent an email. Bless you all! If anyone has questions and wants to communicate directly, my email is [email protected] Take care-Good luck to all WG Weatherford

Congrats Wilbur! I am also having the lap band surgery thru a clinical trial sponsered by Johnson & Johnson. I have jumped thru 6 months of hoops and am glad this clinical trial is available because I did not want to have radical surgery.. and my insurance company did not cover Lap Band... I am so glad to hear what a piece of cake it is. 20 lbs in 2 weeks is pretty good for the lap band. Are you on real food yet or are you still on MUSH??? Have they done your first adjustment yet? I wonder what it is like to have that big 'ol needle stickin in you.. no biggie I guess. Anyway, keep me posted on your progress and I will do the same. I am filling out all my clinical trial paperwork on July 2, this comming Tuesday, and just need to get accepted into the program. My surgeon says that should be a sinche and should know very quickly... then schedule my surgery late July or early August. I can't wait!!! How long did you take off work? My direct email at work is [email protected] Look forward to hearing from you! JoAnne

So great to see you made it safely to the loser's side, Wilbur! Thanks for the terrific update. It's a relief to know one of my WLS "siblings" is doing so well! I am having lap RNY but I hope my postop pain is tolerable like yours. I knew there was probabaly a reason you hadn't updated but thank you for letting us know you are doing wonderfully! Looking forward to seeing "less of you" soon! LOL. HUGS Marykay
