Okay family, I did it! Well not IT! I could not afford the actual RNY or Banding like I would have wanted. But I managed to scrape up enough money for a tummy tuck and lipo. I managed to loose 10 inches off of my upper torsoe by doing Body Flex, before surgery. So when I went to see the Plastic surgeon, Dr. Willima Huffaker of St. Louis, MO. He was very supportive and told me he could help me. And like I have been telling everyone else I have a flatter stomache now then I did when I was 16 years old. I am soooo excited. And anyone in the St. Louis area that needs a plastic surgeon please look into the St. Louis Cosmetic Surgery Center and Dr. Huffaker. They are the greatest, bedside manners where supberb too. I really love all of them there. Well since I could not have my dream of banding or RNY. I can say I am happy right now with what I have achieved. So any of you out there that have crappy insurance and can not afford the WLS look into a tummy tuck or lipo it does wonders for your self esteem. Love to you all.

February 22, 2003 Well its been a while since I have been around. After New Start and I resubmitted me insurance info, becuase BC/BS lost al of my records I got my second denial letter. Oh well, my fiance has been researching the surgery so he know more in case I ever get to have it. He saw that the AGB is cheaper and sometimes just as effective and is pushing me ot have that and self pay so now I am trying to find a doctor in my area that performs AGB LapBanding. If anyone know one please e-mail me right away. With all of the insurance companies raising the malpratice insurance its hard to find a doctor that will even preform the surgery now. On another note, I am still seeing the Chiropractor and getting accupunctor in my ear on certain receptor spots. I have lost 5 pounds and I can feel my metabolism rising, I have this intrenal furnace that sometimes won't shut off. A little inconvieniant some times but if it works I guess I endure the tropical effects it gives me.

Okay Amos Family, I need your help. As I mentioned before I was denied by Allience Choice PPO BC/BS of Missouri. I contacted Walter Lindstrom and he advised me that he could not help me. I am getting ready to write my appeal which I have to do before I can contact the State Insurance Review Board. I don't know where to start or what to say. I thought everything that needed to be said was done in the original letters sent to BC/BS. All of my doctors wrote letters for me in support of my choice to have WLS. I am just at a loss and don't know where to turn. I am getting depressed and feeling more insecure about myself. My self esteem is plummeting. I really want and need this surgery. I am not about to give up but, I'm not sure where to go from here. I at least thought I had a chance with Walter, but that too is gone. Enough for now I must work since I am also considering self-pay ($20,000 - 25,000 through New Start her in St. Louis) anyone know where I can get a cheap loan????

Alright Family, I need some real support. I called the insurance company yesterday and was told that WLS is a Contract exclusion. What exactly does that mean??? When I called the insurance co. the first time to get info on the surgery they just stated I needed a pre-determination letter from the doctor. Well I got that from my PCP and the Surgeon. I even wrote a letter on my behalf. I specifically asked if it there was an exclusion in my policy and (I have her name) Whitney stated "No there isn't." After she asked me what an exclusion meant. So where Do I go from here?? Should I hire an Attorney or try and appeal on my own? I would like some one whose experience with this to let me know. I open to just about anything now. I really need this surgery. E-Mail me or something. [email protected]. Thanks fo rthe support.

ANN~~ KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR YOU~~ So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable

Hi all, Just wanted to let you all know New Start and I sent my letters to the insurance company, Saturday. Wooo Hooo! Maybe, I will know something by the end of this week. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Oh and I just got back from a Jamaican vacation. Wonderful, but... my pictures are awful (me in a bathing suit, Yuck!). I guess I can always use them as my before pictures, and post them on my frig after I have surgery.
