Manpower has changed insurances and they now cover nothing!! Do not work for manpower if you want insurance that covers this surgery!!

Carol: Thanks so much for asking. Well, the surgery wasn't that bad... I have had 2 c-sections and mine was somewhat like that. Of course in the hospital it was a breeze (my surgery was tuesday, march 27 and I left friday, march 30th) they brought me everything I could eat. My sister stayed at the hospital with me, the staff was great at St Vencents in Little Rock, AR. I felt I was in good hands, comfortable with the staff, pain meds were attentively looked after and adjusted according to my needs. I stayed at my parents house for the next 2 weeks and I read and re read the pamplet the doctor gave me on what and when to eat. My mom would ask me what I wanted and I would read what options I had and tell her, she was great she fixed me my meals for the next 2 weeks. I didn't eat anything that was not on the list. I also ate small amounts and when it was time to try something new I went very slowly. I drank lots of V8 Juice and ate lots of cottage cheese and baked patatos. I didn't eat meat for 2 weeks after it said I could, and I drank lots of water (if I wasn't eating I was sipping water). BE CAREFUL WITH THE WATER DO NOT DRINK IT RIGHT AFTER THE MEAL, wait for about 45 mins to an hour. I had more trouble with not drinking at the same time I ate, than with any other food issues. But with trial and error, I finally got to a comfortable place. I took my vitiams (not perfectly at first, but I got use to it). I still take the chewable with IRON! and I take calcium too. I would eat 4 or 5 times a day, but slowly and tryed to listen to my body to tell when I had enough. I am 6 months into this new journey and now I can eat and drink just about anything. Meats are still hard sometimes and so are breads, but I the hardest thing to do is to eat slowly, I still have problems with that and thats okay, I am not perfect but now I know how to make better choices, I have kinda made a game with it, I buy lots of low fat, low sugar snacks and just take bites, then I save the rest for later, It seems like I am eating all day long, and I try not to eat after dark, if I do it is something light like soup, or ice cream(low fat and low sugar of course). I still try to drink lots of fluids, water is the best, not perfect at that either!! It's funny because I won't lose any weight for a week and I will swear that is all I am gonna lose and then the next week I will be down another 5lbs, and I just continue to follow the plan, low fat and low sugar, lots of water and fluids!! I have learned to experiment with soups, make them really thick and chuncky. I love angel hair pasta, do lots with that. I eat lots of veggies, patatos(with real sour cream and cheese), cauliflower, mixed veg's(right out of the can mixed with V8 Juice)heated, still eat lots of tomatos and cottage cheese. I snack on popcorn, crackers(all different kinds), bagels(1/2 of one lasts most of the day!), low fat low sugar cookies, animal crackers, chex snack mix. I am very aware of trying NOT to strech my stomach out, again not perfect. I hope this helps !!! If you have any questions feel free to contact me any time on the message board of at my email [email protected]. P.S. I never had to do the meat tenderizer thing either!! Love to you all and God Bless, Brenda
