Allen: Thanks for the kind words yesterday. I am afraid you might not recognize Virginia Beach if you were last here in the late 80s. Population is now 425,000. The area where you lived is booming. We live closer to the ocean and I commute daily into Norfolk to work. I might as well be in a DC suburb with the traffic! I am sorry about your postponement but glad you caught the problem in time. I had a similar situation last year. My surgery was scheduled for the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend. I had the final blood work done on the Wednesday. On Thursday the surgeon called me at work and said he was pulling the plug because of a blood marker that indicated a liver problem. He told me to get to my PCP ASAP. To make a long story short, we finally traced the problem to the medication I was taking for severe arthritis in my knees. It was eating my liver alive. Fortunately the problem went away by the time I had purged my system of the medication, and I was able to have the surgery on September 5th, just in time to have a ringside seat for the horror of 9/11 the week after I got home. I spent that week lying on the sofa staring at the TV in disbelief, my post surgery discomfort having paled into insignificance by the suffering I was watching. You could say my surgery saved my life several different ways. It indirectly saved my liver and it cleared up my night sweating, high blood pressure, sky high cholesterol and diabetes. Also, surprise, surprise, my arthritic knees are vastly improved even without medication. I wonder if that has anything to do with the 130 pounds they do not have to lift anymore every time I get out of a chair? Good luck to you in November. Stay in touch, you've got a friend in Virginia Beach.
