Dear Angela..........I am sending warm wishes your way on your surgery approval. On the BMI question, usually surgery is not recommended unless you have a BMI of 40 or above. Some insurance companies are very strict, like Kaiser and won't approve you for surgery unless your BMI is 50 or above. With a BMI of 60, surgery is clearly indicated so you qualify absolutely. Please don't worry on that point. You are going to lose very fast because you are young and have a better metabolism than us oldies. I've heard of people dropping 100 lbs in the first 2-3 months, time and time again. Then the weight loss slows a bit but it continues beautifully. You are going to do really great with this surgery! Please start saving money for new clothes. Yours will be falling off you very soon. How cool is that? WOW! God Bless! :)
