Hello everyone,
Sherri here. I had surgery on March 13th, and was sent to ICU due to my sleep apnea and breathing. I was on a PCA pump getting 6mg of Morphine. It didn't seem to hold the pain though. I was then transferred to the surgical floor on March 15. I had the same nurses day and night. One was excellent. The other was incompetant. This made my stay a very short one, ad I could not be cared for by someone who didn't do anything. I released myself on March 17. The hospital experience was not a good one for me. Especially the day shift. The night shift was okay.
The pain was always a 4 out of 5 for me. I am usually pretty tolerant to pain, but this was the kind of pain I had not expected. My back was sore, my hips, and my incision, so my stomach was sore too. The NG tube came out in 2 days. It should have come out in one day, however, the incompetant nurse I had that day. That was not very pleasant. I came home and found the pain hard as well, but bottom line is, every day, I feel just a little bit better. I still have pain, but take Tylenol #3's for that. My pouch is very small, and in one week I have lost 21 lbs. Ya hoo.
I would like to thank all of those who posted wishing me well and a speedy recovery.
All the best to you and yours.
Sherri Scott
