Hi Shrerri, Coming up on our one year anniversary, and I'm wondering, "HOW ARE YOU?"

Kristi C. 24 years, 1 month ago

Congratulations on making it home & taking charge of your recovery. I certainly hope you write to the administrator of the hospital & name names when you do so. It's the only way they can know they have a problem to correct.

Hello everyone, Sherri here. I had surgery on March 13th, and was sent to ICU due to my sleep apnea and breathing. I was on a PCA pump getting 6mg of Morphine. It didn't seem to hold the pain though. I was then transferred to the surgical floor on March 15. I had the same nurses day and night. One was excellent. The other was incompetant. This made my stay a very short one, ad I could not be cared for by someone who didn't do anything. I released myself on March 17. The hospital experience was not a good one for me. Especially the day shift. The night shift was okay. The pain was always a 4 out of 5 for me. I am usually pretty tolerant to pain, but this was the kind of pain I had not expected. My back was sore, my hips, and my incision, so my stomach was sore too. The NG tube came out in 2 days. It should have come out in one day, however, the incompetant nurse I had that day. That was not very pleasant. I came home and found the pain hard as well, but bottom line is, every day, I feel just a little bit better. I still have pain, but take Tylenol #3's for that. My pouch is very small, and in one week I have lost 21 lbs. Ya hoo. I would like to thank all of those who posted wishing me well and a speedy recovery. All the best to you and yours. Sherri Scott

Sherri, As a person that is having WLS five days after you I asked myself what whould I want to hear this close to my surgery. I would want to hear that I am being prayed for and that my decision is the right one. I pray that your recovery will be fast and beyond your hopes. I ask that God watch over you and bring your through safely to the other side. Walk, cough and breathe deep as you being your new life. You are making the right choice to make a new life for yourself. God Bless you.

Sherri - tomorrow is the first day of a journey that several have already taken. I will be starting my journal on 3-20. We must all remember who holds tomorrow but it is up to us to make tomorrow count. Good luck and I will be thinking about you.

Sherri, I am wishing you a successful, complication free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my open RNY on Dec. 10, 2001 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having had done it several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you start your new, healthier life.
